Why no one is concerned by the lack of movement is beyond me How do you know no one is concerned? ...what will being concerned achieve?

It's slightly concerning that they don;t appear to be in place yet but Scholes said last week that we were in talks to get it done and there's no reason to think it won't get done. We always get hung up when things 'don't appear' to be happening to OUR timescale. We then fill the vacuum with whatever comes to mind. It seems that we have to say something even if it's based on total ignorance of anything/everything. Yes, I know this is a forum for any thoughts/opinions BUT is it too much to ask that comments are based on some/any fact rather than the result of a fevered/frustrated mind

Permission to raise concern ??

The first few days will be a quick hello and running up hill 60 by the farm a few dozen times he doesn't really need much help doing that. I doubt they'll even see a ball.

Can the wrist slashers stop slagging the club off now? Maybe, instead, start being positive and possibly even back their team for the forthcoming season?

Has everyone finished panicking now?
As if a professional football club would give a manager no staff.
It's probably been done for weeks but no details have been released because they are probably that busy with new signings.

Really do think getting Rory back is a very good decision.
What's happening with Russell? Did he leave when Lambert did/Rowett got announced or is he still a Stoke City coach?

Like a Sunday league set up. Very poor You mean like the alternative, spending 3 weeks passing the ball in triangles at walking pace under Mark Hughes ? The first two weeks is all about strength, stamina and conditioning and rightly so. Hopefully GR gets back to basics so we can start the season match fit.

Phillips, if there’s one man to re-teach Berahino where the net is, it’s him.

Phillips, if there’s one man to re-teach Berahino where the net is, it’s him. There was a brief period, around the millenium, 1998-2000, when he was the hottest striker in Britain, scoring almost a goal a match.

Kevin Phillips always gave the impression that he got every bit out of his ability through professionalism and hard work. As model a pro as you could find. Hopefully will run off on Berahino.

I agree; as I posted in the Alex Ferguson formula for his success recently, one of his key strategies is to "go for it" in the last 15 minutes. That needs stamina and super fitness.

Being able to keep the ball helps as the side that has had to run less has more energy at the end. Room to be fit and pass the ball about.

Conversely think how many points we gave away in the same period last season because we were dead on our feet.

Being able to keep the ball helps as the side that has had to run less has more energy at the end. Room to be fit and pass the ball about. Man City being the perfect example. When they came to ours and you see up close how they powered their way back to win possession. Massive 5 minute bursts hunting in packs then take a breath when they had the ball. You have to win the right to play your football and Pep doesn't let anyone get away with not winning the ball back regardless of reputation. When I used to race bikes the off season was all about getting those miles in your legs. It's no different in elite sport a good preseason keeps the injuries low and the stamina is baked in. It's too late when you are in your matches as we found out last season.

There was a brief period, around the millenium, 1998-2000, when he was the hottest striker in Britain, scoring almost a goal a match. I can always remember him going clean through on goal at the Vic in front of the Stoke End with only Prudhoe to beat, only to slice it wide and nearly hit the corner flag. That must’ve been one of his earliest games for Watford around about 1996. Absolutely fantastic once he moved to a Sunderland though. You rarely see ‘big man, little man’ forward lines like him and Niall Quinn these days.
