?? What do you mean a strange post? It is almost a month since Rowett became the Stoke City manager. We have had numerous stories in the press and rumours about who will be in his coaching team. As yet no one has been appointed. They are hardly falling over themselves to join the great project. So I ask the question why not? The coaching team is one of the most important aspects of any successful football club May I put it to you that your reply is indeed a very strange post. Have you even stopped to consider for one moment that Stoke are negotiating the release of the men who'll be Gary Rowett's coaching staff with their respective clubs if they're still under contract? To suggest that professional men aren't in a rush to work with Gary Rowett is, indeed, strange. Can't remember what it was that I was reading, could have been a link on here somewhere but GR said that the initial contact with Derby was agreed that they would focus on just tying up GR first, and then return to discussions over the team coming with him after as we wanted to get GR in ASAP and not delay things, with the coaching team not needing to be in place until the end of the month.

I think the clock has well and truly stopped on this one. Does nobody want to work with Rowett? What a strange post. I would replace the word strange, with shit.

It's probably no coincidence that only Jody Morris has been named as part of Lampard's staff so far, maybe it's a case of they've got to bring someone in before they can let someone leave?

"Looking beyond Derby" is excellent news. I want him to assemble the best backroom staff he can get. No old cronies from previous clubs suits me fine. We apparently have an excellent GK coach we need the best guys we can get as attack, defence, match analysis, fitness, etc. coaches/trainers. That takes time. Head hunting, getting people released, (on 2 occasions when I moved employer I had to work nearly 3 months before release from my old employer). Agreeing terms and conditions and compensation, etc.

If the club brings in coaches of high calibre. I will bow to your judgement on the longevity of the situation. And I will be very happy and may even buy you a pint. However the time scale makes me anxious. I will wait and see

I would imagine as the players, or some at least are due back early next week, Rowett/Stoke would like his staff in place by then or prior to then?

Based on a Scholes clip on the radio, should be some sort of announcement later today or over the weekend?
"We're significantly down the line and I'd expect everything to be in place on Gary's immediate coaching staff by the end of this week. The players are back on Wednesday, so we really want all the coaching team in work and ready on Monday to get ready for that - so I'd expect everything to be finished this week"

Hes going to be running around CW like a nut job next week if hes on his own with 25-30 players.

It is getting close though. A week and a bit before the team report back for training and you'd hope the coaching team is not only in place by then but they have a plan agreed with how to get the team up to fitness and comfortable with system(s) etc. Here's hoping for a busy week but I know right now I'd be more bothered about getting the transfer targets in because they 'should' be more challenging negotiations... Fingers bloody crossed!

Looks a pretty good coaching team. And apparently all still on the books. Still no one recruited to the potters. Very "strange"

Why no one is concerned by the lack of movement is beyond me How do you know no one is concerned? More importantly, how does he know there's a lack of movement? Maybe we're just waiting for the grand announcement as the players return for pre season.

Exactly, people at the club might be shitting it, or Rowett might be sitting on the pitch with Delap, Davidson and Phillips enjoying a Pimms and a pizza, chuckling at the goings on on this thread.

I had hoped that we, as a club, had moved on from Pizza. Pimms is fine but never with Pizza. Pimms is never fine. Far too poncy for my liking! I thought that the consensus was that our relegation was due, in no small measure, to a ponce level which was way too low for a Premier League club. If it takes Pimms to raise our ponce level to galactico levels, that's fine by me.

It's slightly concerning that they don;t appear to be in place yet but Scholes said last week that we were in talks to get it done and there's no reason to think it won't get done.
