Don't forget his steroid-fuelled preseason in Singapore. Preseason means naff all tbh. That is true but he looked like a bloody world beater

So, did Rowett make that decision, or was it somebody else? Is the most important question. There is a precedent for this sort of thing, I suppose. I don't think that Hughes was responsible for releasing Delap, Sidibe and Whitehead after Pulis left, and he even had to re-sign Pennant after he'd been released. On that basis, we could yet be haunted by the depressingly incorporeal ghost of Glen Johnson in the right back slot!

Some of the comments on this thread, beggar belief, Whether he is good enough or not, does not warrant the abusive comments towards a young lad who has tried his best. Absolutely shocking, some of you need to give your heads a wobble!! Just another day of incisive analysis from our panel of experts.........spouting shite as usual. Luckily those that make the decisions have a modicum of intelligence, an attribute sadly lacking amongst the keyboard warriors on here

Were you happy with relegation? Were you happy with keeping Hughes at the helm for so long and then replacing him with Lambert? Are you happy seeing clubs like Southampton selling average players for extortionate amounts while we sell our Crown Jewels for peanuts? Why don’t you enlighten us with your opinion rather than just posting witty little comments to every post you disagree with.

Not really sure why so many are bothered about Greenidge to be honest. Can’t see him being anything special from what I’ve seen. Haugard is a strange one, maybe Quy rates him but he’s not going to be more than a third choice keeper anyway so not that arsed. Haugarrd ...the goal keeper who can't save shots at goal Berahino...the striker who hides from the ball Unbelievable Amatuer Sad

Glad Johnson has gone, 1 year too many and we should kept bardsley instead. Ireland I would have thought would provide a good squad player in the efl but it's not my decision. I'm surprised we have let eddy lecyne go, I always thought he loomed strong and decent.
Haugard must be nothing short ofb3rd choice and as soon as Jack goes we will replace him.

I am in awe of you If the average man on the street with a shitty looking cv could see the problems at the club before the people in charge that you deem so intelligent (as they have now acknowledged they got it wrong, slightly) then surely you must question how intelligent these people making the decisions are. The point raised by the original person you quoted are all valid points which you don’t seem to want to debate, is this because you can’t? Challenging opinions and reviewing how things are run is key to development in any business. Not questioning or even considering the whether the actions taken by the club were right or wrong because you deem them intelligent people says more about your intelligence than it does about anybody else’s really.

[ You silly silly boy. Go back and read what was written slowly and carefully. I never disagreed with the point being made. It was probably shite but I have no evidence any more than the boy making the allegations. Serious ones amongst other things involving contracts. If you want to make allegations about a person's competence then you must have some pretty persuasive evidence and/or impressive qualifications. Be very clear Stoke City Football Club did not rise from the obscurity of 2006 to where they were in 2017 by some kind of accident. It was a group of very clever men that did that. Mistakes happen you dilly and the higher up the food chain you are the greater their impact on people lower down. I could go on but you are the type of gobshite I would avoid in a pub so buggered if I will waste any more time on you. As a parting thought though have you ever stopped to consider that the same incompetence was responsible for the recruitment of Pulis, Shawcross, Fuller, Huth, Delap, Bojan, Arnie, Shaqiri, Faye.........

Contracts aside, which unfortunately we can only go on what comes out through the media which I agree isn’t reliable, did the other things not happen? I.e extending johnsons contract, getting rid of bardsley, getting rid of N’zonzi for a pittance, replacing arnautovic with a free transfer? Why could the club not see what was going on with Hughes whilst all of these idiots on a message board could? And if they could why did they not act sooner on the matter? Keeping him on was not an intelligent decision to make. “What’s all the fuss about?” Was not an intelligent comment to make. We made a lot of cock ups last year (and prior year to that) which of course is going to cause the fans to question the leadership at the club and they don’t need a degree to so nor do they need to produce a CV. Do you extend this thought process to the manager also? I mean I imagine they usually have more coaching qualifications and footballing knowledge than you or me but if they make a sub or team selection which seems completely bonkers I still debate it. Mistakes do happen and I really hope those running the club learn from them and the early signs are that they have. On your last note, most of them were pre Carto and the current system we are using for recruitment and the ones that are from the Carto regime weren’t signed recently. Recruitment hasn’t been good enough for a while now and has played a big part in our slow demise so will hopefully be rethought.
