although I would not be sad if jack leaves for agood acceptable fee it would be a good thing if he gave us 12 months to help try get us bsck up also. I have no time for players who think they are to good to play in the championship for us. after all they all played a part in relegating us. if they all showed a bit of loyalty I would be quite confident we could make a quick return to the premier league

Certainly looks like it. The Butland express has totally derailed, I'm expecting him to still be at Stoke next season.

Jack may pay the highest price of anyone for last season's debacle, his big club move going the same way as his World cup place. The stand out moment was the cross he threw in his own net at Leicester when it seemed we might finally win one. I think he will get a move but not to where he would like or for a fee anything like the numbers being knocked around on this thread.

If Liverpool do go for Pope then that is Jack’s England career finished. Funny how crossroads take players on a completely different path. Had Jack not done his ankle I’ve got no doubt he would’ve been number one for a good 12 months now and would’ve probably had a season in the Champions League. Also, when he should’ve stared ahead of Hart but didn’t is another occasion. I feel a little sorry for him as the hand of fate has not been kind. Having said that, he hasn’t done himself any favours with his performances this year. The downside to all this though is a reduction in value of him as an asset to the club. If he goes we will get a decreasing price, if he stays his head needs to be in the right place and he has to get over his disappointment.

His options are very limited really, aren't they?
Can see him maybe having to stay here solely due to nothing really cropping up for him?
A biggish Prem team has both got to want him AND be prepared to pay £20m+. Seems a bit unlikely at this stage..

But when you analyse the possibilities, it's hard to see one for him. I can't see one of the 3 possible contenders from the big 6 - Liverpool, Arsenal or Chelsea singling him out as THE bloke they want in the end this summer. And then it's possibly West Ham or bust?

Out of the 3 england gk’s, Jack is the better, however his form, particularly the last 6 months, he’s been the poorest of the 3. Hope he does stay but also hope if so it doesn’t knock his confidence.

If it wasn't for wanting England to do well, I'd want Pickford to fuck up big style with his feet.
Even putting the butland thing to one side, I'm sick of hearing and reading how great Pickford is with his feet. Most pundits and media had butland as their number one even a few weeks ago. Now it's butland is the better keeper but Pickford is better with his feet. What the fuck is all that about?
I'm predicting Pickford tries a Cruyff turn in the second game and treads on the ball for a tap in.
I blame pep. 😁

After last season I don’t think it’ll be to his or our benefit for him to stay. If he’d played all his career like he did last season he’d be nowhere near a big club. His concentration was poor and his head seemed elsewhere culminating in a few costly errors. He also got found out in respect to coming out for crosses (or his failure too). There’s no doubt he is a fine GK however he needs to prove himself on the big stage again in a situation where he’s not thinking about where he’s off to. I hate to say it but I think West Ham or Wolves could be a good move for him as I don’t think right now he’s good enough for a top 6 team. A few mistakes and he could be going the same way as Joe Hart. For me 25m would be a good deal for us. 2 seasons ago I’d be saying 30m+.

It wouldn't be that much of a gamble for him personally if he stayed. He could be back in the PL in 12 months. No England tournament only qualifiers and he'd get picked for the squad.
If we matched his existing PL wage like with Allen I think he'd stay and run the loyalty flag up the pole. One less position to worry about and a fabulous back 5 if the defence stay.
I guess we just don't know if we were heavily reliant on the £30m or Coates will bankroll us anyway.

May as well extend his deal and gamble we go up.

I am starting to suspect we will sell him for less than £20m., with lots of add on clauses for appearances, England caps, sell on clause etc. So if he is successful we get more for him, but if he isn't we comfort ourselves with the view he wasn't that good anyway. Personally I think that would be the wrong thing to do. We should insist on £30m + or keep him. GKs have very long careers. I'm sure he will get better and better, as he strikes me as a very committed professional. I hope he doesn't sell himself short and go to a club that could be fighting a relegation battle, or end up on the bench of a CL club like Bego did.

The best thing for him as a man and a player would be to stay , play 46 games and recapture the form that made him the best keeper the country has . People vastly underestimate the impact of the injury and over a year out , it’s 9 months out of a 20 year career for a keeper . The last thing he needs is more change and constant media exposure on a bedrock of Rocky form and confidence In the round I think it’s best fir us too , scholes andcan do what is allegedly good at and fudge the numbers and his value will rise again or we have a ready made keeper for our return .

Southgate has apparently told him he needs to play at the top level. However if he doesn't get the right offer and stays your scenario might end up doing him (& therefore Stoke) a world of good.

Butland is 25 and as a GK is just still setting out on his career that will last 12 or more years. How long do England managers last? I would say it is more important for him to get back to his best form than getting involved in European football or playing for a Prem. club whose priority is survival. But I am in my 70s and he is a young man in a hurry to succeed and will see the world differently.

In the absence of a better offer he needs to get his head down and knuckle down, have a good season for us and then look how the land lies in 12 months or even 2 years if we're promoted next season.

i like Jack, and wish him all the best, a very positive role model for the club.
i also think he's not in the best condition he can be, he 'looks' like he's carrying a bit more timber than he should be. Perhaps this contributed to some errors he made last season?
