Explain yourself and leave my family out of it. In a earlier post you state that Collins readiness for first team action should be down to the manager of the senior team (Jones) and that it’s his opinion that counts to the vast majority of fans Then in your later posts you attempt to assassinate Jones as a manager, questioning his tactics and opinions. And so if you don’t rate Jones, how can it be safe to trust his judgment of Edwards who seems to have secured the R/Back slot or giving Verdlinden his debut ? We don't get to select our manager, so whether we believe in him or not we have no choice but to trust his judgement, and, I do trust his more than I do kelw's. As for assassinating the manager's credentials he did a fine job of that himself tonight.

Well done young Collins.
Hold your head high, excellent debut in trying circumstances
You’re one for the future 👍

That ball he played was sensational! None of our other CBs could even dream of playing that!

He'll be in the Premiership before he's 21! If he’s not already tied down to a long term contract someone needs sectioning. This lads not 18 yet!

Looked very composed needs to start next game alongside Batth. Nothing to lose. He’s the future. Please just don’t start Williams and Batth unless it’s in a 3.

Made the most of his debut opportunity, looked composed. May have an opportunity given Shawcross injured and Martin's Indi and Edwards suspended. At least Jones is giving the Academy players a chance.

Souttar and Collins partnership next season? Go on then!!
In all seriousness, Souttar should be there perhaps a loan would do Collins good. Massive potential for 17!
U23's game Vs Villa earlier in the season. First 30 seconds of the game, good composure on the ball by Souttar and a 60 yard diagonal by Collins!

I’m seriously excited by this lad.
Looks like the ball wasn’t a fluke either which is good.

Delighted at least one Nathan seems to know what he is doing.Interestingly Nathan's uncle Eamonn still holds the record for the youngest player ever to play a competitive match in England.

He didn't play for long, but you could see that there's a real player! I really don't see why we need to buy a new central defender even if one of Indi or Shawcross is sold. We would still have Batth, Collins, Souttar + one of the two. Spend the money elsewhere where it's more needed.

I'd still play Williams against Rotherham and think Jones will too. Why put unnecessary pressure on the lad. If he needs to come on as a sub then fine, but we need to look after him.

As much as I hate to say it, you've made a very sensible point. My immediate reaction is to stick him in the starting 11 & watch him improve but realistically, the best thing for his development isn't to heap lots of pressure on him & make him think he's immediately made it.

I think at home to Rotherham is an ideal game to give him his first start

He has to play against Rotherham, nothing to lose and he needs games, he must be a part of plans for next season as the old guard will fizzle out one by one as next season moves on

I hope we give a few more of the u21 side a run in the team before the end of the season. At least they show more backbone than most of the first team. Would be good to see what potential we have coming thru the ranks.

It could mean what you say however contrary to some suggestions Stoke are good at sorting contracts out for youth team players. I take it to mean Collins will be prime candidate for a season long loan out down a division of two.

Yeah - the article mentions that "loan suitors are queueing up" so I take it to mean he want to play regular football either at Stoke or on loan

Stephen Kenny who will replace Mick McCarthy and one of ROI's most successful club managers in recent years with Dundalk is a huge fan of Collins. I feel Saturday could the the ideal chance to start him. Agreed with the choice of not to bring him on v Blackburn but think Saturday would make sense

Hats off to NJ for bringing him in at such a young age, particularly as a centre-half. You rarely see them getting first team football until their early twenties at least, with Vincent Kompany and John Stones the only exceptions that come to mind. HE'S SEVENTEEN!!!! It's ridiculous, when you think of it.
I hope NJ has the wit to keep Collins involved for the rest of the season, starting on Saturday. Given the fact that "we are going no-where" this season, I would hope that the fan base would forego on results in meaningless matches in order to allow the continued "blooding" of Collins, and possibly one or two others.
Playing the likes of Williams instead would be, to me, totally pointless.

? You want him to leave? I don't get that I want him to stay, fight for his place like Tom has. In Collins' case I don't think it'll be much of a fight. He's a natural. A star in the making. If he goes on loan, for a full season, there's always a danger that once out of sight out of mind, Jones will think he doesn't have enough centraldefenders, so he'll go out and buy several more, i.e 2-3. Then when Collins comes back, his path to the first team is blocked by these marquee signings that the manager made, and Collins will end up as the next Shenton, that is a forgotten man. Then eventually he will leave for a nominal sum, and he will go on to be a star elsewhere. Obviously that is worst case scenario.
