It's a girl
Get your therapy sessions booked lads
"The opportunity to present such a big show as Drivetime - playing fantastic music and hopefully making people smile as they cook tea or head home after a day's graft - is the icing on what is already a very brilliant cake.
"I'm beyond chuffed to be given this role."
Well beyond Chuffed I would imagine

For me she's another reason to hit the re tune on the old wireless. Good luck to her and 'team diversity', I won't be listening. If the Beeb wanted to show someone else the door on the daytime schedule I still say Steve Wright wouldn't have been missed one iota.

Smacks of total mismanagement, realising that they've messed it all up and some top level buck passing. I've seen tidier car crashes.

That's a good article which succinctly sums up the car crash. I'm on the opposite side of the fence from a few of the lads on here but Wiley's talents were trashed on the new show. She's exceptional at presenting music with genuine enthusiasm and that was also sacrificed. Blame the politicians as well they're all over the BBC on matters of representation.

The article confirms that the thing is just a complete and utter mess which has been "managed" abysmally. Chris Evans departure has obviously caught them out completely and it's just an overall catastrophic attempt at re-organisation due to the diversity requirements. It's intersting to read that Simon Mayo was chosen for the diversity project as he would be the only one who would accept it. The admission of the fall in listener figures is quite telling and I think it may well get even worse before it possibly starts to improve.
I thought the reference to Steve Wright possibly being a prime target for a big money final pay day was quite interesting - we can only hope he does go !
I thought Wiley and Mayo didn't work but I'm sorry to see Mayo go and Wiley be shunted off to another slot as a consequence of the mis-management.

Instead of 8 til 10 she's got 7 til 9 and with a bit of luck a little more power to her elbow.

At least we're not being subjected to Trevor Nelson during daytime programming !

The article does point out that the on air relationship wasn't exactly hitting it off which came across when listening. Wiley is undoubtedly a very talented and knowledgeable presenter and is more than capable of carrying her own programme. Mayo equally is no idiot and had moulded the drivetime slot into (in my opinion) a bit of easy fun listening which suited that time. As Deeside points out, they chose him because he wouldn't put up a fight. Wrong on several counts.

"and Wiley be shunted off to another slot as a consequence of the mis-management"
I honestly think it's the best music slot that she could have. There's no point in putting her sort of show on earlier because it won't suit the demographic.

Don't get me wrong Felonious I wasn't criticising Wiley moving to a possibly preferential slot for her show, but I was criticising the "management" who had previously thought it wise to move her to the Mayo Drivetime slot and then six months later have to move her to another slot as their "management" had obviously got it badly wrong.

Didn't think you were for a minute matey and as I said I thought the article appears to sum up the situation. As someone who thought her 8 til 10 show was the best music offering across the whole of the BBC including 6Music the only issue for me was it was on slightly too late but this extra hour puts it in the perfect slot for me. I always assumed that she had moved because the show was on too late because of her family commitments.
