I hate to disagree with you Chuffed but she was excellent on her own show which was the best offering from Radio 2. The guy who's on with her now is working a treat and it's far better then Mayo & Wiley. Blame the idiot who put the two of them together. She excels at interviewing musicians and playing music and the current format isn't the right vehicle for her. That's fair enough, Fel. She was very good on her own show- the right mix of music in the right evening slot. It worked + she very much made it her own. She's a disaster on drivetime, though. Maybe it's nerves taking on an iconic slot but her yacking overpowers Simon Mayo + their banter seems very strained. The mix of music doesn't work for drivetime to my ears, either. And worst of all, I miss Wednesdays' Doctor Mosh. Used to fire me up on the drive to my weekly bowling league. I've heard a bit of the show this week with the co host and it's far better than her with Mayo although I have to say apart from the confessions bit ,when I happen to be in the car twice a week at that time, I wouldn't listen to Simon Mayo. His film review slot with Commode is pure drivel.

Never forget the wonderful world of Ken Bruce popmaster. Rob Brydon does an impeccable impersonation of ken Bruce I remember a few years ago on April fools day Rob Brydon did the whole show pretending to be Ken Bruce.

Went to see him last time he was on at the Vic and he was absolutely brilliant. The road trip tv stuff he does with Steve Coogan is good too, they do many impressions on that. Is it the 1970's. Some things just don't age well... Great. I'm sure I'll get the relevance at some point.

The drivetime slot Mayo style was great. With Jo Wylie it does not work.
I do like Jo Wylie when on her previous own shows and this week her and Rickie Wilson (Kaiser Chief) have a chemistry but i prefer the old style Mayo show at that time slot.

Apparently the Beeb have recently conducted a survey asking for the 10 things that Radio 2 listeners like the most. They announced the results last week but I didn't catch them all due to my incredulity taking over because number 3 was Trevor Nelson standing in for Ken Bruce, and one of the other most likes (quite high in the top 10 - number 2 I think) was the change to more dance music during the daytime. I think Steve Wright's "Serious Jockin'" also got a mention at about number 7 ! So it looks like we either change to another station or we have to put up with this crap for the foreseeable future. Like yourself i am not a lover soul or disco music. If they want you say it is true they conducted a survey it sounds like the survey was done within their own group. Trevor Nelson and Craig Charles i am sure play to their own audiences on night time slots but please keep them and their music off daytime radio 2. I had liked the variety of music on daytime shows though i have my preferences. As we said before too much soul/disco music now being played daytime. I never bought one record/cd etc of that type of music i do not know anyone who did except northern Soulers.

Surely the people who want an evening of dance music will be out enjoying themseleves on a Saturday night and the only people left in listening to the radio will be sad old bastards like me?

I regularly worked shifts for many years until recently and saturday night radio on most stations sadly was disco and modern preprogrammed music to a certain beat i reckon so the girls going out whilst preparing themselves to get them in the mood. Thankfully i could find the odd station playing guitar based music but it was analogue radio so not the greatest signal.

If the Beeb want to be so PC why not just give her a slot somewhere. I agree with your Mayo comments, should never have been messed around with.

It really is tripe isn't it ? There's obviously been a change of R2 management at the Beeb and the new boss has seemingly decided that we want to listen to Trevor bloody Nelson dance music or Craig Charles Soul music - never heard of Ana Matronic (I must be getting really old) so can't comment on he/her/them or the music.
I know they've said they apparently did a listener survey recently but I never heard any mention of it at the time , and they can say Nelson, Charles, Jo Whiley, or Steve Wright's Show and his "Serious Jockin" slot etc are very popular just to suit their agenda. I've complained several times on the Beeb's website but we all know nothing will change. The only thing they'll take notice of is if the listener figures drop dramatically and I can't see enough people switching off to have the desired effect. I would have thought the people who wanted to listen to dance music etc would listen to Radio 1 anyway.
I accept lots of people will like the dance music or soul music but Shirley there is the right time for this (during the evening) and not during the day when it should be more varied for all tastes.

Rickie comes over really well and it's obvious that they get on quite well. She's wasted asking the punters where they're going and what they're doing.

I dipped in again this afternoon, Wright is just bloody awful. Whichever clowns are selecting the output need getting rid of and quickly. Agreed about the listening numbers they'll only sit up and take notice when it becomes embarrassing.

My wife accidentally switched R2 on this morning and Trevor bloody Nelson is standing in again for Ken Bruce for 2 weeks. It's dreadful listening to both him and his obvious own choice of dance music. Needless to say he didn't assault our ears long before she switched over to some other station - don't know what it was but it was markedly better then Nelson's tripe.

Great news Chris 'I love myself self promoting sycophant' Evans is leaving Radio 2 but later in the year. Funny how his show is always better when he is away.
Lets hope for a talent with personality as a replacement but i think that might be wishful thinking and another self loving clone takes over.

If they want a female version of Chris Evans then the awful Alex Jones of the one show would be his replacement.

Assuming that the current oh so politically correct policy at the BBC continues and in the name of diversity it'll be a female voice to take over, practically guaranteed. Just one request though, please no bloody dullard like Whiley. She's already screwed up Mayo's show.

Just one request though, please no bloody dullard like Whiley. She's already screwed up Mayo's show. Yes, great news that Evans is going but maybe it's just us that's wrong. Extract from Mail on-line article: "He regularly attracts nine million listeners - more than any other breakfast show in the UK. After his shock announcement at just after 8.10am devastated fans took to social media to say they were 'close to tears.' " Devastated fans - close to tears..........dear me, these are presumably grown up people, it's absolutely pathetic isn't it ? The list of our NO-NO'S to replace him would be fairly extensive wouldn't it. No Wiley definitely, NO Trevor bloody Nelson (!!!!), or any other countless clones, etc etc etc. You never know we may even end up with some other "talent" like ermmm...... Miranda Hart as "guest" presenter. Have you ever heard Lisa Tarbuck on the weekend - absolutely, woefully dreadful, yet they keep her show going. I dread to think who the powers that be in the Beeb have got lined up for our delectation and delight. It'll be Ken Bruce next, he'll be removed as soon as possibleas well. Looks like me and the missus will be continuing to listen to other stations instead.

The only saving grace for Evans and this is a purely personal take is that for the 25 minutes I'm in the car going to work a little bit of banality did no harm. Switching off when I get out of the car wasn't difficult. Craig Charles comes across ok but he's already set up.

He did obviously dip into his "trunk of funk" but not to extent where I thought "oh God, another one" and he comes across well tbh, nice and engaging.

Really pleased the gobshite is leaving, he should take Steve Shite with him. Never have my ears been bombarded with so much drivel and white noise as when listening for 5 seconds to these pair of self important, overpaid destroyers of the radio waves. The morning slot should be filled with a soft voiced presenter who wakes you up gently. We listen to Smooth FM until Ken Bruce appears at 0930. Not sure who should fill the slot but please please not another gobshite Male or female presenter.
