Speculation persists that he will be leaving Everton, and some media reporting that today will be his last game.
He is the man of available we should be going all out for to lead our club back into the prem and beyond.
Has had success virtually everywhere he has been with exception of Newcastle where you could argue he was given virtually no time. Has done a great job of stabilising Everton this season, think their fans are totally unrealistic with what they expected with where they were in league when he took over.
Okay, brand of football might not be of a short passing nature, but that for me is not of importance, it’s results we need and the enjoyment of winning is far more than watching 500 plus passes a game which lead to nothing.
Former England manager (anyone thinks this is meaningless see Hodgson at Palace this season) will have huge contacts with players and bring a very credible back team with him. Would also command instant respect from players, and as to Ryan’s point, knows how he wants to play.
Would he come? On the right terms, right budget and right salary, wouldn’t see why not.

Would be an ideal appointment but:
1. Does he have the desire to drop a division - he took time before agreeing to return to Club management with Everton:
2. His salary at Everton is reported to be £6m/year. LMH salary at Stoke was reported to be £1m/year.
Both parties would have to have a serious change of heart to come together in the Championship.
I guess a good salary, large transfer budget and a significant promotion bonus would be the minimum required. The chance to build something and prove the doubters wrong.

He won't come. He'll retire. I think that is about right. He quit football a year ago after saving Palace and only returned because Everton gave him an opportunity to manage a ‘big’ club. He doesn’t need the money and I doubt he would be enthused about managing Stoke out of the Championship.

Would he work alongside an up and coming manager for a short period? - great option but unlikely
From Dudley, maybe the Baggies would tempt him to the Championship?
Sensible option would be to retire

I dunno though. The man has got one hell of an ego. Give him the funds and how better to put 2 fingers up to others by being the darling that worked wonders at stoke.
It's all about Sam with him

I do think he'll probably retire.
He's 63. He could feel he has a few years left, but leaving Palace does indicate he's had enough of the grind of firefighting at smaller clubs.
Although he does like money.
Everton was his chance to show he could do something at a bigger club, and he's blown it.
I think he'd do well for us, and not many Prem clubs would be attracted to him.
Coates would, but it's pretty hard to see it happening.

I'm surprised he came out of retirement. The nature of his England departure devastated him.

We need something NEW he's basically failed again, yes ok he got them mid table upwards (I suspect they would have ended up near there had they kept Koeman) but they still don't like him or his style so he's out....abject failure

He should have got the job here before Everton snapped him up but our owners choose to dither till it was to late. If had been appointed we would not be in the position we find ourselves now i am certain of that.

Perhaps we asked him and he turned us down. Yes our owners dithered in sacking Hughes but do you know they didn't try for fat Sam before Everton did?

I would prefer a younger (More hungry type) Dean Smith would be my choice! But Allerdyce? Yes of course he would come given the Project (Money) available? That is the one thing that motivates him!

Not convinced he’d have taken it even then. He’d have taken it for the right money , right budget and transfer control He'd had enough of fire fighter teams and it was always going to take a big job and a ridiculous amount of money for him to go anywhere. We weren't going to pay him six million quid a year and Everton are a miles bigger club than us.

He's failed massively to live up to his own billing. They were 13th when he went there. They'd been struggling but they were hardly dead and buried and they always had the talent to get themselves out of it. Allardyce has always maintained he's more than just a firefighter but once again, he's had his chance with a big club and rather than taking it, he's turned them into Bolton again.

If he loses the Everton job, I think he's going to stick two fingers up at football.
Between the England & Everton jobs he has been made to look a complete fool for absolutely no reason. I wouldn't blame him for going away from the game.
Everton & West Ham are both looking towards the Portuguese bloke in Ukraine. I forget his name but he's supposed to be a genius of sorts.

No! British football doesn't need to keep perpetuating these tired old fucking relics and footballing dinosaurs that stuck the life from a sport with the moniker 'the beautiful game'. How can so many fans of so many different clubs be wrong?
I don't want to see anti football at our club ever again, we've seen what the end result is.

People saying they don’t want these so called British dinasours who should just retire from the game and they’d rather have a young up and coming manager but look at the British managers at the top of the championship this season, Neil Warnock 69, Steve Bruce 57, Tony Pulis 60 there’s no doubting they’re all top manager capable of getting teams out of the Championship and Sam would be no different, probably the best of all the dinosaurs and I’d have him in a heart beat.
Gary Rowett is probably one of the top young British talents in that league but we ballsed that one up didn’t we.
