I really can't understand some of the negativity towards Allen, think he has been our most consistent performer this season. Really hope both he and Badou stay to take us back up again on the first attempt. For me he was consistently average, but we have struggled as a team ever since he has come into the team. So my negativity only emerges when I come across enthusiasm for him which I still cannot fathom. For me that is because he is neither an effective defensive midfielder i.e he gets easily knocked off the ball and commits too many fouls because he cant hang on to the ball. Neither is he an effective creative midfielder. We hardly ever saw him play a clever ball through to forwards, he's not very creative, his tendency is to move the ball backwards, his passing is only decent when he has to move the ball quickly. If he has time on the ball he ponders and is usually dispossessed while he's thinking what to do with it. I cant work out the enthusiasm for him. He's a kind of luxury player, he needs 2 other central midfielders around him to be of any purpose. I have not seen our midfield dominate a game for a very long time and you cant just blame the manager for that all of the time. Liverpool fans used to say he is a good player but nobody could see how he fitted into their team. I wanted to like him and he strikes as an honest and committed player but just cant see it. I will be amazed if he is successful at any Prem club but lets see! To me Allen is as far away from a luxery player as you can get! His workrate is superb and he always gives everything for the team. This is the kind of player we need in our midfield, and I think Allen and Badou looked better and better together. I really hope we can keep them both as I can't see us getting anyone even close to their quality in as long as we're in the Championship.

They should be competing for the same role and that's a luxury we can no longer afford. I wouldn't be heartbroken if they both went. By the way they don't have much quality that's the problem. They run about a lot.

I’m sure we can get lots better midfield players than Allen and Badou from the lower divisions for a few hundred k. We can then pocket the difference which would be amazing for our bottom line - which is really what we all care about.

Badou will be great in the Championship.... he will have found his level. Can't see him, Bruno or Bauer staying. Was underwhelmed with Badou initially but he seemed to improve with every game.

We should try very hard to keep Joe Allen, even if we do get £20M offers; he is one of the 6-7 players who will be an asset next season. If we can get £25M for Wimmer, Imbula and Berahino combined, that would be a very different matter. £25M? I'd take a bag of Monster Munch for Wimmer.

The most galling thing for me is throughout our struggles, the best midfielder we have has spent the season pratting about on loan at Toulouse.

Think I saw Badou finding very good space to run into on several occasions after his arrival, and he even bagged a couple. Allen hasn't scored many this season, but still he does a very good job for the team in my opinion.

It would be fantastic if we can persuade joe to stay. The lad was player of the season by a mile. Take his work rate out the middle and it sticks out like a sore thumb. He will be a huge asset over 46 league games

I also don't agree he was player of the season tbh.

I think allen and ndiaye are both good defensively and they run around alot but neither of them can pass a ball Allen was much better the season before last when he played further forward - scored goals too. Last season he did nowt - but neither did the others (except Butland who spent a lot of time picking the ball out of the net).

I like Joe, you can't help BUT like him, I think anyone who puts the work rate in that he does you've got to have some admiration for!!!
The problem with Allen though is, the thing you admire most about him becomes his biggest fault, his work rate creates too many gaps in the middle....so he ends up doing more work to compensate that!!!

I think comparisons between Badou and Allen are unfair.
Allen has grown up in the English game. Its completely new to Badou. In the short time Badou has been here we started to see signs of him adapting well to the level and to the pace of the game. He needs to work on his control of the ball though, he's a bit like a bull in a china shop at times.
It usually takes players time to adapt to Premiership football (Arnie, Shaq etc)
