Compared to our ambitions over the last two years he's a tad underwhelming. That said he's a good manager. Tipped up at West Ham when they were looking doggers, Arnie was the boo boy who couldn't do anything right and then by season end they were relatively safe, Arnie was player as better as we've ever seen and leaves with his head held high. I think we'd actually be quite lucky to get him in the Championship and can't think of any better ones for the level we are at.
Reality is Rowett (who I like) has taken an expensive Derby team nowhere. Potter is massively unproven, even if I believe he's a good manager he just doesn't have the competitive experience that makes or breaks managers and this is the main season we can't gamble as we need to bounce back now if we want to.
Expectations need to be drawn back in chaps and lasses. In Moyes I Trust

They should be doing the spadework like you say FM getting in touch with Big Sam and Moyes seeing if there's interest. Sounds like they haven't done anything as of yet which is not surprising.

If Spinks is right questionable I know , Very telling in why we get the managers we do , waiting to be contacted by them , that’ takes out most of the people you’d actualoy want , do we honestly think Sam is sitting on a Spanish beech saying to his Mrs do yiu think I should enquire about the stoke job ? It’s beyond comprehension

They wouldn’t make contact before Lambert was sacked I suppose but I can’t believe the Board have not sounded people out? But hey ho they seemed to have done the same post Hughes?

I thought Moyes would fancy it.

Maybe they've not contacted anyone as they want the person they choose to actually want to be at Stoke, rather than us having to ask someone to do us a favour.
Or am I giving them too much credit for having that kind of a plan?

I still think it's Moyes written all over us. We're perfect for each other and a proper PC wet dream.
He'd love some stability that he knows he'd get with us, with a decent 4 year term on the offering. He will get plenty of cash thrown at him to spend and he'll have an entire team to play with all Football Manager style going bat shit crazy signing 32 players.
Stoke are probably just playings it down because the don't want the embarrassment of what happened in January with QSF, Rowett and MON to kick them in the cock.

There are mixed messages from all around the club......wanting a new direction you would think qsf but a return to our DNA you would think mad mick. Think there must be Ranieri Pearson Qsf Moyes Sam McCarthy

Sun also reporting Moyes is the top target - but is not likely.
David Moyes is Stoke's No.1 target - but the odds are against attracting him to the Bet365. He feels he has unfinished Premier League business.
Lambert's four-month spell in charge of the crisis club ended yesterday. The axe dropped after he forced the issue of his future during a meeting with the hierarchy. He was seeking assurances over his future - but received none.
He leaves with only a handshake after Stoke triggered a break clause.
Stoke wasted no time in targeting Moyes. Tony Scholes tried to sign his close pal in January, but Moyes snubbed him

By jan I thought he was already at West sham what’s moyes record last season ,what was his tactics and formation in games .lamberts all chasing and hurrying around the pitch but had no structure in games n no strikers lol Yeah, he was. Steve Wilson from the BBC reported that we had informal talks with him at the end of October, prior to the Watford away game, and asked if he'd be interested. He said he would, but after winning that game, sacking Hughes apparently went on the back burner. www.theguardian.com/football/2018/may/09/david-moyes-west-ham-ambition-contractMoyes himself then revealed last week that he'd turned down a Premier League job in January to stay at West Ham, even though he was contracted there only until the summer. Presumably, we were offering him a long-term deal then? I'm a bit surprised Moyes isn't jumping at the chance to come here, but if he and Allardyce aren't interested (which seems to be what te press including Percy are saying), it really does thin the possibilities out a bit. If John is still interested in QSF, he's got to be favourite. Potter doesn't seem to be on the radar and if they were hung up on QSF as recently as January, got to think they'd take him over McCarthy/Pearson or a Championship option like Smith/Johnson? The re-emergence of Rowett as a talked-about option is intereting though. Can't really see that one, with him sitting on a long-term £1m-a-year at Derby.

Were they ever on the board? Said it all along, Sam doesn't need it and Moyes will fancy his reputation has been repaired and will sit and wait till next summer before dropping at the earliest, confident that something will pop up during next season. It's Big Mick, we should just sit and accept it.

Answering the question of the thread, NO! Yes he was successful at Everton but hasn't done anything since. Let's not kid ourselves, Arnie kept West Ham up not Moyes. Very underwhelming if this does happen! Again, what contribution was Arnie making to West Ham before Moyes became their manager?
