Assuming (/hoping to God) that Lambert goes today then I'm sure Moyes will be top of the list. Not my first pick but a good choice nonetheless and one we can get behind.
He's clearly a far better manager than Lambert. His Everton record stands up to the highest scrutiny - so much so that Fergie wanted him for Man U. He made some great signings for them over the yrs and turned them from perennial strugglers to consistent European qualifiers.
He had a tough time at United but there's no great shame in not being good enough for the biggest club in the country. He also inherited a fading team. He's made poor choices since then but Stoke seem much more akin to what he had at Everton. He might even still live locally? I think it would work out well and would be a statement of intent. If it's happening, let's get it done ASAP so he can start the overhaul.

Moyes looks to be the front runner and for me preferable to Allardyce although I think either would fit the bill but Moyes would be a good long term appointment

In reply to a question asking if he would drop to the championship.

I’d prefer a young up and coming manager but if it’s a straight choice between him and Lambert I’d start turning up to games in a ginger wig singing “Moyes Moyes Moyes, I’m looking for a good time.”

I can't think the salary would necessarily make a mountain of difference. Didn't he sign a 5 year contract at United? If so, he's effectively got a year left!!!!! He would take a look at the Board and know he'd get time. Getting money is another thing though!

we'll have to move quick, you would assume Swansea will now be all over him!

I really don't get the love in for Moyes. West Hams team was too good to go down- and they still made hard work of it- he didn't exactly work miracles. At United, Sociedad and Sunderland he was absolutely shite.

Didn't realise he's worked with CEO of the century Tony Scholes before. Must be a shoe in for the job if he wants it.

The longer it all drags on the more I'm swaying towards the 'Get Moyes in to get Lambert out' camp.

Scholes and Moyes are still good pals & had a good working relationship at Preston. Would definitely be the key cog in a move for him. When Moyes has been between jobs he often attended Stoke games, he used to park his Porsche on the West Car Park..

After the Sunderland fiasco no but I think he has redeemed himself a little at West Ham so yes and that's only a just about yes because let's face it he ain't done that good at West Ham considering the team he has Exactly, how has he really redeemed himself at West Sham. They had a great team this season and he almost got them relegated. Moyes is a dinosaur and hasnt done well since his Everton days, where he was already going stale when the call came from Old Trafford. Moyes is not the man to rebuild anything.

Doesn't excite you like people would get if it was some foreign manager. He has lots of experience and ticks all the boxes for Coates. Seemed to do a decent job with WHU and getting the team organised and getting the best out of some of the star players (Arnie). I'd be happy with Moyes.

They didn't have a great team to be fair. They sacked Bilic for a reason. He's underwhelmed for a long, long time now but really, we could still do a lot worse. At least he'll have some stability and be given time if he comes here.

If Moyes is our main target then I really do fear for our future!! His last three clubs have been abysmal. Why do people think he can do a job at Stoke when he couldnt get West Ham up for it even with an on fire Arnie!!??

Not a big fan of Moyes or Allardyce tbh. I'm happy to take neither.
...and I don't want Pulis back either.

I'd be happy with anybody who played for Celtic - Moyes, McCarthy, Malky Mackay (we haven't had a racist for ages) ... Macari, Dalglish

Moyes would be fine, if he comes he must have been promised a healthy budget I would think. Does he promote youth which could be vital..
