I'd be surprised if there's not a manager in place by Monday. I hope so, but I guess that depends on whether our #1 or #2 choice is interested, available and without any other obligations. If they're currently employed or in any sort of demand, I'd imagine it will take longer. More likely to be closer to Bank Holiday weekend imho. I'm sure Cartwright has rung around to see who's interested!

I would 100% be happy with Moyes... For the first 6 games until he had a shit run of form, then he can fuck right off

Moyes should add the stability, experience and gravitas that we so desperately need facing into a Championship season. He might also convince some people to stay who otherwise might not, and be able to attract others. His teams are always fit and well prepared. Yep, he'd do for me.

Moyes, Big Sam and QSF are all available.
My preference would be Big Sam but hopefully it will be one of those three.

And so the 'oddswatch' begins. There were several odds on favourites at various points last time around. Bilic, MO'N, QSF and Rowett all had incredibly short odds at one point or another. We'll probably see lots of movement again this time too. I'd be surprised if there's not a manager in place by Monday. This is Stoke. I’ll be stunned if there is.

Moyes would be more than a great appointment, just hope we are trying to get Big Sam first.Golden opportunity for us with 2 very good managers available that suits both of their skill sets and our needs.

Would be uninspiring appointment, made a right pigs ear at Sunderland. Not consistently successful, Big Sam on the other hand.

He's recovered some if his reputation at West Ham however he still has something to prove. That might be a good thing.

All of you deluded, what makes anyone think Moyes would want to manage a Championship team. and big Sam had retired on his England Management windfall, Nigel Clough or Gary Rowett (now that they are going to srll his star striker) is about Stokes limit

The two outstanding candidates look like Moyes and Potter. I would like to see Moyes as the general manager with Potter as the deputy. It is a two man job these days and Moyes or Potter would need an assistant if appointed on their own. Potter might need more than a season to get to grips with promotion on his own but with Moyes would learn faster and be ready to take over when the time came. A mixture of youthful dynamism, experience and wisdom might do the trick for an immediate return to the Premier.

I'd be happy woth Moyes or Big Sam.
Don't know what cocked the QSF deal up but think I'd tell him where to go, if he sends his CV in.

Moyes is a carbon copy of Hughes so i hope we go all out for Big Sam. What a crock of shit. If you have watched West Spam this season they are well drilled at the back and a tight unit. Mark Hughes does not know what a defence is.

I'd prefer someone else but the trick with Moyes is giving him long term stability. Compared to keeping Lambo it would be like appointing Ancelotti. Long term stability is the key for moyes, if you give him time he will work wonders at stoke. I was a season ticket holder at everton for moyes' entire 10 year reign and he had us playing some amazing stuff. He took us from relegation fodder to a team that consistently finished 5th/6th and we even broke into the top 4 in a season when everyone was saying we would get relegated. He gets the best out of underperforming players and can be great in the transfer market. At everton everything was sell to buy and it wasnt often that he wasted money. My only worry is that he is a stats man who does things by averages and he bottles big games. We never won away to any of the top 4 teams while he was at everton and we never won any trophies. I dont think he could win a play off tournament as he would bottle the final. Best bet would be to win the league or finish 2nd.

Answering the question of the thread, NO! Yes he was successful at Everton but hasn't done anything since. Let's not kid ourselves, Arnie kept West Ham up not Moyes. Very underwhelming if this does happen!
