I would let him see the season out as if we stay bottom we will have certainly regressed under his tenure. Unfortunately that will also cost us another 4 million for losing a place in the table.
In the end a lot if huff and puff but no end result.. just like the football delivered under him.

Why would any player want to stay if Lambert remains?
If we think his substitutions cost us today, imagine what the players think.

We didn't take the chance, one yes one in a game we needed to win. If you can't say anything sensible then don't fucking speak.. a blind man could see Palace tore us apart.

The first sentence is spot on. He was left with a piss poor attack and an unbalanced squad with no real quality in wide positions. Has he made weird decisions that make you question if he's the man to take us forward? Absolutely. Has he played his part in it? Absolutely. His job was made harder than it should have been though, and the real culprits in this are about to get away with it massively. Good post. Have to say another two years of Lambert fill me with dread. If nothing else a new face in the summer would signal a fresh start and perhaps a new identity. Lambert is now seriously damaged goods and if the owners have any semblance of common sense will part company with him asap.

I have been thinking the unthinkable since the game ended.
Pundits have told us time after time how lucky we are to have a local owner who is also a supporter. I have posted a number of times that the average supporter spends a greater percentage of their income on Stoke than Coates does. Where has this local family owner and his old fashioned view of loyalty taken us to ...relegation.
Is it unthinkable for the club to be sold to someone who wants to put a lot of money in? Other clubs have thrived from this but there have been casualties, usually from someone trying to do it on the cheap or balance the books. We went that route and look where we are.
I suspect that all our "better" players will be off so we may as well build a new team, hopefully more balanced and bring in a manager who will get us promoted. That all takes money and I have no faith that Coates will change his spots.
OK we could end up in a mess but the risk is better than waiting another 23 years for promotion ( I would be aged 94!)

I'm not saying that Coates is beyond criticism, but without his money and careful nurturing the club culture we would never even have won promotion in the first place! Just be careful we don't sell out to a new owner like Ellis Short!

"Careful nurturing" sums it up exactly, have a look at some of the clubs that have succeeded, it takes spending definitely not "careful nurturing " that's how we got into this mess Owning a football club costs a lot of money; balancing the books and success do not go together. Have a look how Wolves have done since they changed owners

But we would more and likely do a deal with the one who owns West Brom! Coates money is safely in the ground and the training facilities that have value! The TV money and Any sales was wasted in the transfer market!!

The amazing world of football. Lambert's won one game since January and keeps his job and Sparky will look like he's saved Southampton. I wish I was as crap at my job.

Has he been sacked yet?
There is no point in keeping him on for one more game Mr Coates
Do the decent thing and fuck him off he is destroying my club with the most negative crap football I’ve ever seen played.
He is a disgrace to football the guy should stay retired this time I wouldn’t wish him on Stafford Rangers

Exactly my point. Coates does not risk or spend his own money so we try and buy on the cheap and paid the penalty for it.

I honestly think he is the worst manager I've seen at Stoke and believe me I have seen some bad ones.

How can we rebuild the club with him still stinking the place out... Desperately need a fresh perspective to begin the ‘new era’ and they can’t do it with his failure being part of future foundations. Board need to realise that going cheap only buys you shit and with it more shit... Hopefully this season proves to be a lesson learnt.

Do we think, assuming for a second, in the realms of fantasy, that we might be up for not appointing a tired failure from the merry go round, that we might be able to tempt someone high profile as a ‘project’ club? Offer them a stack of money, back them properly, and might we still be attractive to a Quique or a Puel? I think that's what will happen Rob. I hope you’re right. I’m in the mindset now though that we’ll end up 15th at Christmas, hounding Lambert out. Grim

Let’s face it guys PFL is going nowhere. Why on earth did Coates give him a two and a half year contract? The sensible approach would have been a contract to the end of the season with a sizeable bonus for keeping us up. Who the hell is running this joke of a club?

I highly doubt coates will give Lambert the boot, i reckon he sees him as the ideal man to get us back up (Lunacy i know) but what happens if big sam becomes available ? could coatesy been tempted to try and lure him here ? the everton fans seem intent on running him out of goodison park, he might become available soon, would he come if promised a sizeable budget ? he'd suit stoke down to the ground imo.

Maybe headless chicken running appears as if the players are fitter, the thing is I've never seen Diouf blowing out of his arse like he was today after 50 minutes. Not really sure we are that much match day fitter!
