I’m fine with mine being questioned, I just defend it by tending to actually base it on something. Isn't it opinion v opinion? Yeah. He’s free to challenge mine. I’m free to challenge his. What’s the problem?

No say "Franklin you're right he may have asked for a email" Well I don’t believe that so why would I say it? You asked me to say it was possible, not to say I agreed with you. Again, if he did that, it wouldn’t be reported would it? Nobody would be making an issue of it. 😂😂😂😂😂 just say it get it over with. I never said it was fact I just said he may have asked for an email. I never said it liked the way it was done or that I agreed with email as the correct way to deal with the situation. Just a theory which you decided to pick at. You were wrong I was right night night.

I've been in the shitty position of having to tell people they were losing their jobs, there's a proper way to do it with dignity and respect and then there's the cowards disrespectful way. E mailing or texting someone about such a significant decision is despicable. Put yourself in the receivers shoes!!

We haven't sacked him, his contract has come to an end and apparently we have informed him in writing we are not considering a renewal. It won't have come as a surprise to him, he didn't manage a championship seasons worth of games in his entire 5 seasons here. With our media broadcasting rights being slashed from £100m to £6m over the next 3 seasons I guess the intent is to no longer run the operation as some kind of benevolent home for clapped out or can't be arsed footballers. And that’s fine. I don’t agree with your last line as it pertains to Ireland but that’s fine. Informing him by email is utterly reprehensible. That’s my point. That's true. I had him in the clapped out camp. Correct me if I am wrong but I don't think he has scored a Prem goal for us since his loan spell with us in 2013 in a match where Matty Etherington started on the wing!

Hard to score during the 18 months he was out with a broken leg Gods. He was very hit and miss but even if he wasn’t scoring he had his moments. His two terrific assists for Walters against QPR in 2014-15. Him turning the game at Spurs the next season. Even this season he looked decent when he was involved.

I feel trying to debate a point you feel is ridiculous can often just serve to give it more attention than it truly deserves. I see very little to be gained by this discussion. What I want to know is where was this stated about the email thingy. Google isn't finding anything for me, was it the radio or something?

Firstly I'm hoping the report itself is incorrect and secondly if it isn't then the person responsible for terminating an employee relationship by e mail should hang their head in shame and be told that this is unacceptable behaviour for anyone working for our Club. Yes Ireland was treated well over the last few years and he seemed to respond very professionally by keeping his head down and getting back fit. He actually looked like the stand out player away at Man Utd, doesn't make sense to me

At one stage I forgot he was in our squad.
Regardless of whether he was informed by email or not (and I agree poor form if he was) he is always one bullocking or 'hip and shoulder' from another lengthy sideline stint. I actually have no problem with the substantive decision.

If this is true I despair of Stoke. 1. The email issue is disgraceful. 2. Ireland is still one of the best passers and movers at the club. How long did we sign Fletcher for?

Meh, we gave him enough time to recoup from that injury. We paid him well for his time here. Don’t see the harm in letting him go with plenty of time to find a new club. To be blunt heband countless others on the fringe can go this off season tbh. Adam, Johnson, Afellay, Wimmer etc there’s plenty to ship out for new ins. The email is cowardly but that’s about it if true.

Christ what's happening to our Club One of the most pleasurable ways I found of dispensing of a employees services was to wait until the day before they were about to go on their holidays ( summer but Christmas was preferable) or wait until they needed to attend a family funeral, I found E-mailing pretty tame.

He may be on holiday and asked for an e-mail who knows. Surely you'd prefer a phone call, holiday or no holiday?

Stoke City has been more than fair to Stephen Ireland over the last few seasons. Not renewing his contract is the right descission, and I honestly can`t be bothered about how we told him

We need everyone out of contract out of the club if you ask me. Nothing against Stephen personally I just think we need a fresh slate and younger players. I'm worried there was no mention of Johnson..
