I didn't understand the Bauer sub the other night but today's was understandable. Who else goes off to bring Ireland on? The Johnson sub was at 1-0 up so is not interchangeable. I doubt Ireland would have come on had it stayed 1 nil.

I don't think it would make much difference who the manager was. We are without doubt the worst squad of so called premier league players and to be honest we deserve to go down. We are an absolute fucking shambles of a club from top to bottom. Thank you Mr. Coates for presiding over a once proud club who are destined to be cast out into the wilderness for another 30 odd years due to your sheer fucking arrogant complacency.

He's a poor mans Pulis. Doesn't know how to win a game. He's had enough winnable games since he got here but looks clueless tactically.
The Board can not compound their catalogue of mistakes over the past 2 years by keeping him on surely. He really must be shown the door as soon as the season ends.
Lambert Out.

In fact, Ireland should have started. 4-4-2 hasn't worked out today, why he's changed it now against Burnley, after building up the team performances in another way is beyond any form of understanding, and this is from the same bloke who said before this match: 'I haven't changed anything since I've been here'. When I saw Bauer was coming off instead of Diouf, it said everything about Lambert. He's not very good tbh. Not for us. He's about as tactically aware as a bowl of fruit.

He needs to pick up 1 more point in the next 3 matches to ensure he doesn't finish below John Carver in the points per game stakes.
It's a results business and his have been awful. Got to go at the end of the season.

Nige asked him if the Bauer sub was a tactical one or if he was actually carrying a knock. Lambert (almost gleefully) told him that it most certainly was and his decision would have been vindicated if the Ireland shot had curled in. Shakes head ... Do we think there are any circumstances that would make his position untenable, even with the 2.5 year contract? We've now reached the point where his position is untenable. Surely he will resign after Anfield if he hasn't been sacked.

The fact is we will be relegated by next weekend when we lose to Liverpool, still with 2 games left.
West Brom will finish above us.
Surely that will be enough to see him sacked?
1 win in 15 games MUST make his position untenable

The question isn't whether Lambert actually knows what he's doing....
It's more, does COATES??? For actually employing him in the first place.... And not just employing him.....but employing him for 2.5 seasons!!!

OK so this thread is about as damning as the one surrounding his appointment. Let’s hope the board get the message and realise he isn’t the man whatever division we are in.

If he wanted to bring Ireland on, why didn't he move Bauer to right back instead of bringing Zouma on? Absolutely bizarre. He'd have saved himself a sub as well. We were winning though when he had to make the Johnson sub, maybe he didn't want to change things too much. The real problem was playing Johnson in the first place as he's just not fit enough to last 90 mins.

I posted quite a bit about PL when he came in and I take absolutely no pleasure in being proved right, he is a decent man but a crap manager I said at the time(not on here) that appointing him just rubber stamped your relegation I hoped I'd be wrong I really did but after watching him at The Villa the writing was on the wall for you, I'm still looking forward to returning to the bearpit next season I just hoped it would not be in the championship which sadly for both of us now looks the case

The only thing he’s done since he came in is stop us shipping 3-4 goals a game. The rest has been woeful. Hope the boards see sense at the end of the season and gets rid but sadly I can see Coates sticking with him as we’re a ‘proper’ football club and it’s the ‘right thing to do.’ 🙄

I can confirm the Bauer substitution was met with complete incredulity by two senior figures at the club , I sense results are taking the issue out of there hands , like Hughes they would like to stick but are beginning to realise they can’t sfford to , and obviously sacking lambert saves some other hgh profile skins .

He's a crap manager who will always be one. He isn't leading us on a promotion charge either, 1 win in 12 at PL level doesn't turn into winning at least half at Championship level.

I doubt Ireland would have come on had it stayed 1 nil. It was quite clear it should have been Diouf to make way rather than Bauer. Ireland is better in that central area in and around Crouch. To be honest would have started Ireland to pick up pieces off crouch in that area. Summed it up when we finished with our best 2 "number 10"s playing wide makeing them ineffective and hanging on for dear life for a point in a must win game.

I don't disagree that Ireland central is a good option and should have been used more but today the 442 gave us our best half of football for a while and it's not as if we havent started and ended enough games with Shaq as a central "number 10" recently.

A game of football lasts 90+ minutes !, game management is an integral part of management he didn't manage it again !!!!!!!!, let's face it is was a piss poor cheap desperate appointment and it shows.

Ireland is the only play maker we have though. Shaq has flapped his lines and we have to use what we've got.
