My view is a massive yes and that ranges from the owners, players and staff of the football club itself right down to the supporters and heres why....
The owners,
Money is obviously going to quickly dry up with the tv gravy train being cut and the boardroom kudos disapering from being part of footballs elite, all of a sudden we are cast amongst the football wilderness of once big clubs who have all themselves been relegated but will carry more of an interest media wise with more exposure than little old SCFC, the likes of Brum, Derby, forest, Leeds, both Sheffield clubs and Villa being prime examples.
The players
Obviously most of our "glamour" (and I say that loosely) signings will disapear, everyone is currently dicussing who will leave yet no one is yet giving any proposal of who will be an asset, who will be willing to stay and fight for a decent campaign, who out of the discarded squad players will relish fighting to become the "stars" of lower league SCFC,

Shawcross
Whimmer
Pieters
Johnson
Fletcher
Cameron
Diouf
Berahino
Indi
Choupo Mouting
Ireland
Edwards
Campbell
Not very inspiring and I am not 100% half of these will want to be here, I have not listed people that I think will move on such as Bauer, staffy, Ndiaye and Adam

Blackburn Rovers, luton town, Burton albion, Sheff united, Wolves, Bristol City, coventry.....need I say more!

Just how many people will now loose their jobs due to relegation, I have good friends in the community teams who now fear for their jobs once the relegation axe falls, This could eventually run in to 100s depending on what the next 2 to 3 years brings, if attendances start to fall what about match day stewards, gate staff, ticket and merchandise staff, there is currently a lot of doom and gloom behind the big polished gates of scfc towers.

A few people will get a rude awakening in this league, gone will be the sterile safe for tourists premiership bubble and all the resources thrown at it, no more strutting about towns and cities willy nilly drinking side by side in the safety of premier league back slapping, it will be 10 years since we faced most of these teams and that is how most of them will see us, they will not know how our supports demographics has changed from the stoneisland wearing hoard of gritty manual labour types to the scarfe wearing call centre husband who know takes his wife and kids, look what happened last time Wolves were in town, look what happened the last Sheff Wednesday were in town, there will be a lot of teams still looking at Stoke as the scalp they want to take type team from 10 years ago, Leeds, Cardiff, Borough, sheff united, Sheff Wed, Millwall, QPR, Birmingham, Villa, Bolton, Barnsley all gritty working class areas that will be looking at our fixture home and away with asperations of a score to settle, there is a whole generation of chavvy wannabes that have never known what it is like to be old style SCFC a target for the hooli gangs up and down the English lower leagues, if you are under the age of 25 you will not have a clue about Stoke of old.....other than listening to the stories and legends told of the old days with a little bit of embellishment

It's a massive demise that has been coming... So so many saw it, it's difficult to believe it was not architectured in some way or another (well technically it was, as a team is built and everything behind it constructed) the truth has been however that past those"shiny gates" that were only repainted old hashes! Everything has been run abysmally for years. There has been improvements, but money thrown at things hasn't fixed them entirely. I genuinely think we are a football club run by a group who have no idea how to properly run a football club, but want to pretend they do and instead take shortcuts in every way possible, there's so many examples from the youth system (stealing players from Barca etc etc yeah right...), The ticket office, pr team, Cartwright is just a short cut (must have had a very nice looking cv... Sound familiar?) Every transfer seems a hash job.

Good, honest investment in younger players with potential to play in the Premier League alongside top Championship players, whilst retaining the best players possible is the way to go, but you will be talking big money.
I have my doubts that the hunger is there from the owners to do it, and if it was, I have bigger doubts in the drive and ability of those people around them.

Next season will be about stabilising I think- a top 10 finish and lay the foundations for a promotion push the year after.
There's too much expensive dead wood in the squad.

We will most likely get relegated for a second time, unless our youth players are capable of being decent championship players. Campbell, Verlinden, Sorenson, Ngoy and Edwards and Souttter. I don't know the answer to that. If they hit the ground running we may be ok. I fear they are not good enough based on how the club is run but we will see.
Realistically we will be left with the players we will be paying but not playing

Bojan
Imbula
and a core of
Grant
Shawcross (if we are lucky)
Adam
Ireland
Diouf ( if we are lucky )
Crouch
to build around. I think we will really struggle

think everyone will be in for a shock. we are in a downward spiral like sunderland, crap players on big wages who mentally and physical wont want to be the championship. i look at our team and think we need possible 15 players. we have to cut costs so anyone with a big wage will have to be shunted off asap the rest well...
we need 1 keeper plus bursik whole back lineplus bauer,edwards and martinsindi whole midfield plus cameron and ireland and new front line plus campbell.
the rest can be binned or will hopefully have left.
we got to look at the jobs cartwright and scholes do and look at the academy do we keep it or save the money and close it down. has not produced too much in the last ten to fifteen years.
wont be a beach party at too many towns and cities we visit, was like going to cardiff great city centre but the mile out to the ground was like going back in time
Oh what things we have to look forward too

We'll have to stabilise ourselves first probably. But spending big isn't the only issue.
We have to spend big on youth and up and coming players rather than 'proven' championship experience. I can fully see Coates forking out £20m on 3/4 championship veterans and hoping that works.
I say fuck that, get some rising stars in, take the risk.

We need to sack some players pure and simple .we need to play up to and beyond the laws of the game.We simply wont bounce back unless we get some big wage earners out of the club i.e.those who are on fat contracts and not even at the ground matchday and, this must happen by ANY means at our disposal- fair means , or foul. This is down to: are we gonna be soft as shit ? or, get ruthless ?

I cannot admit to being knowledgeable on how Prem Contracts work, but i'm sure, or I bloody well hope i'm sure, that there must be a relegation clause in the contracts of our top earners which results in a massive pay cut. If not we are very capable of doing a Portsmouth, crippled by a massive wage bill with a team of players either unwilling to fight for the shirt or plain not good enough who will milk the club dry and at the same time stop us being able to bring in new and fresh blood.
With some of the incompetence our club appears to have committed in some of their transfer dealings, I do not feels confident that we have protected ourselves from the downside ramifications of relegation and I really do fear we could go into free fall. God help us but our biggest game of the season in no time at all could end up being against them lot up the road!!!

I just think a good start to the campaign is utterly crucial next season. Relegation should have a galvanising effect on the club from top to bottom, but as soon as the results stop coming in the Championship it will be a HUGE test for Lambert and his dressing room. I just hope we can win at least 6 of our first 10 and get the players heads where they need to be for the next 36 games.

Surely there would be a knock on effect at Bet365 that they would surely not overlook. I'm still in disbelief that we're even in this situation, but it is now very clear that they have been guilty of one or two good decisions, but many poor decisions, resulting in where we are. |

Relegation is the most sickening experience of being a fan, even worse than losing an FAC final or semi-.
That is why I can't abide all the defeatist posts on this MB rubbishing almost every aspect of the club. It is clear to me from yesterday's performance that Lambert has not lost the players, they are still up for the fight, but it is many of the so called fans who have given up long before the outcome is determined. I'm just glad they are not playing/working for the club; they have failed as "supporters", which they have probably done in the rest of their lives.

Not meaning to be disrepectul but I’m expecting ( I can’t demand) an absolute attempt and assault (on Championship rivals) to be back in the Premier League within 12 months. Anything less and it’s good bye to Peter Coates and co after almost 55 years and being a season ticket holder since 74 If they are business leaders now more than ever is the time to prove it |

The fans are not the ones who can’t be arsed to chase back, who can’t pass a ball to a fellow player who is 5 yards away, who get paid £40k a week to look totally disinterested.I am talking about the past 20 months- not yesterday! |
