Is this the Stayupperites thread? If we lose to Tottenham it will be the first time all season we have lost four consecutive premier league matches. So another doom laden thread I'm afraid.

The thing is the board is too upright and proper in the dealings. They sacked Hughes in the proper manner without having someone lined up. That is honourable but fucking stupid in this day and age when most chairman tap up a few coaches before pulling the plug. I think if the fans and board knew the only option to replace Hughes was Lambert then he might still be in charge today. Again though the board are living in the 20th century. Football is big business, and there should have been more planning behind the scenes to replace Hughes with someone half decent a LONG time ago I'm not sure that business men and women (I've worked for bet 365 and they are well known as cunts) who have made it to number one in a business like gambling can be described as upright and proper - it's almost not possible - I honestly think we are here almost by design - the premier is just too expensive for how much they are prepared to put in.

Why didn’t they sell then...

In my book that is more likely to happen than us being relegated. So here’s hoping for a double boost this weekend! Altogether now...... We are staying up!

They wouldn't have chucked 50million at the three lemons, they wouldn't have filled the corner in, why wouldn't they just sell up?

people doing the Hughes v Lambert comparison have missed one key point. Lambert has better defensive options with the recruitment of Bauer Staffy and Badou also a fitter Indi . Hughes had to make do with Edwards/Diouf Tymon and Fletcher in those positions. Not denying Lambert has made us more solid but the additions have significantly helped.

I think Hughes added to his problems by the formations he sent out and the lack of fitness.
