Once again. Your career does not always define your intelligence. There are many intelligent people who are in prison or are homeless. You can't see past his conduct and attitude that's why you're labeling him as stupid. Because you DON'T LIKE HIM. You’re only sticking up for Barton because you hate Hughes, and you’re as incapable of being rational about him as he is. I don't like the guy. And I also don't like Hughes. There are only a few things I agree with him on. Most people are just bashing him though and not paying any notice to his opinion. Robbie Savage's comments were clearly biased to his friend. Nobody could defend Hughes at that point. Barton says all the things that I'm thinking about Hughes.

He has no charisma, no tactical sense and seems like he can't motivate or drive anybody. I thought all of these things when he first arrived, he never gave me full confidence. As a player would you want to work under him? I wouldn't. I'd rather work under Hodgson and I hate that clown.

The guy has sank QPR and has now Sunk us, and still gets employed. Hes done more damage than good at the clubs he's been too. He was bland, monotonous and spouted absolute tiresome drivel in every pre and post match interview. He couldn't motivate himself to stand up. The guys a joke.

I couldn't play to the best of my ability under someone like that.

Barton was slating Hughes as someone who’d never done a good job and dismissing any good jobs he’d done as fluke and was made to look stupid when things were going well for us. Again, he’s an average manager who’s done a shit job at times and a good job at times. That’s what his record suggests.

If you want to marginalise Savages opinion on the basis that he is biased because Mark Hughes is his mate then Vincent Kompanys opinion of Hughes certainly counters Bartons. H

Worringly for us is the fact that when Hughes joined QPR in January 2O12 they were threatened with relegation. He managed to obtain victories against Liverpool, Arsenal, Stoke, Swansea and Spurs and almost beat Man City, which would have cost City the title.
Some hope then for Southampton.

There's planning a massive bank heist and getting away with it....then there's Joey Barton....no, he's none to clever is Joey!!! If he was, he'd know when to keep his gob shut, and maybe he'd have had a better career in football, and more England caps!!! He is intelligent. You just don't like him. Just because you have been on Question Time does not make you intelligent. Joey Barton is a nasty individual who thinks he's intelligent but only fools people who are not very intelligent.

All that matters is now though mate and he’s left us truly in the mire Not when you're looking back over someone's entire time at a club and assessing it it doesn't. He thoroughly deserved the sack and I sincerely hope he relegates Southampton and doesn't get another Prem job again after the wholly unnecessary mess he created. But the bad doesn't mean the good never happened. That's not how history works.

Get a grip and show some perspective. If you are talking about club identity, Hughes single-handedly dragged us away from the knuckle-dragging, footballing dinosaur, thug image we had to one where we actually got a bit more respect from pundits and fans alike. You talk about finishing 9th like it was some kind of failure. Say what you like about Hughes' tenure over the last 12 months but to try to portray the previous 3 years as some dark period of the clubs history is just one-eyed fuckwittery FFS.
