I'd go with this, too. Sit in deep-ish, win the ball back, and break. N'Diaye looks like he'll help us here. Not 100% sure about Diouf up-top, his work rate is good, but his quality is lacking a lot of the time. But our forward options are poor, even compared to say, Bournemouth. when fit They have , Defoe , Wilson , Stanisaus, King , we have crouch , diouf , berahino , which would you rather have . Well I think we know the answer to that one now

Been away all day, glimpsed at score around 3:25 to see what was what
...so officially now the honeymoon is over.
Baton down the hatches...it will all boil down to the last game of the season against Swansea

If by some miracle we do manage to avoid relegation, and that seems highly unlikely, does anyone think the board will invest in the team? Personally I don't think there's a hope in hell. depends what we can recoup for Imbula, Wimmer and Berahino 😢

Although not great, were better with Crouch on. Subs offered nothing. Because they came on at 2-1 down in the 82nd minute. Should have brought all the subs on at 70 minutes as anyone could see what was happening we were penned into our own half

The manager fucked up today, there's no question about that, and he has to learn very quickly if he wants to stay as a Premier League manager.
That said, the idea that we're doomed is nonsensical given the way the bottom half of this league is. If we can win the next game we're back on the road to safety. It's going to be like this week-to-week until the end of the season.
That 35 minutes - and yeah I know it's only one half of football - was quality, there's no question about that. More of that and we will be fine. We actually looked like a good team.

Personally I don't think there's a hope in hell. depends what we can recoup for Imbula, Wimmer and Berahino 😢 The wages we are contracted to pay imbula wimmer and berahino means their value is negative. We would literally have to pay someone to take them off our hands. Or agree to pay a large chunk of their wages, which in effect is The same thing

Hellu!
Here's the story: I haven't seen the game vs Bmouth on tv live (here in Sweden), simply 'cause I haven't got the channel.
But, I've read the manager's thoughts and according to him, we should have won the game, we were far better and so on ...
How true IS that?

Having had time to reflect, I do think that it was one of the best team performances this season. We were even able to pass the ball in the first half. Lambert has done wonders in a fortnight; didn't expect him to get everything right immediately but we have an international break coming up which may help. If he continues to improve the team at this rate we will be ok. Other teams have a worse run in than us so we may be saved by default if not on our own merits. No point being a Stoke supporter if you are not an optimist.😮 I assume you're referring to this season in particular? Most seasons since I started watching in 1958 we have lost games we should have won and won games we should have lost! 😐😐😐

We actually played some of the best football of our season and looked extremely comfortable in the first half. Even the tv commentators were very complimentary. We weathered the predicable early onslaught of the second half reasonably well, but after about an hour we lost the plot, sat too deep and gave away stupid free kicks and reverted to comedy defending yet again. We never kill games off. Our lack of threat up front is frightening. Badou was superb and should have stayed on. He does appear to have a couple of red cards a season in him though. Our three subs wee ineffective and barely touched the ball between them. The Stoke fans get 10/10. They were superb all game, and also won high praise from the commentary team.

people saying it was best 45 mins they had seen stoke for a long time...then slating them come 90.... For anyone there, or who watched live, that was how it was though. First half we pressed, were organised, it actually looked like every player knew their job, a massive improvement. After an hour we were being pulled all over the shop, it was obvious that Howe would get into his players at the break and sort them, that happened and we couldn't cope. Taking Badou off was a mistake for me because Staffy looked like he didn't know his role he was all over place. They are professionals, they should be fit enough for 90 minutes plus so the slating that came after a game we should have won (in our predicament) was fair enough. Onto Brighton where hopefully lessons have been learned.
