'Chief Executive Tony Scholes said: “Having played in Germany himself, Paul Lambert is a keen observer of the Bundesliga and I know he has been impressed by what he has seen of Kostas in action for Augsburg.' Accepting that on face value it's a Lambert signing. Having watched the press conference, Lambert basically admits the idea to sign him wasn't his, although he clearly gave him the thumbs-up. As much as I want to believe otherwise, the board are spinning us some crap! Looking at the whole picture, and listening to Lambert it is obvious the club have gone down the cheap route. Lambert will be a cheap appointment. The club have signed the two full backs and Lambert as just said yes. The idea to bring back Bojan and Imubla just stinks. We all know that we need some fighters in the squad and these pair are not. They bring them back and pay their wages or spend some money? I think we know what they will do! Lambert as referred to the squad as having quality players. If you ask me he as been told to get on with what he's got. In his shoes he isn't going to be demanding anything from the board he is just happy to in the job.

Lambert supposedly got the job because he knew all about our strengths and weaknesses. Lambert and the pre-Quique buzz all suggested the new manager would be backed. If the family is serious about staying up they'll know they need to make funds available.

Bauer looks good - and Staffy could go either way, but at least he's a warm body who could play left-back. Cheap and cheerful maybe, but he looks just about a worthwhile punt. But we need to push the boat well and truly out to sea for the midfielder (which is going to be the key addition) and what we're prepared to do there and maybe up front will tell us all we need to know. With relegation tapping us on the shoulder, the time to try and be 'cute' is long gone. If we're still in cute mode now, we deserve all we get.

Hughes spent a fucking lorry load on absolute gash. Why would they spunk a whole host more when we aren't even guaranteed Premier League next year? It's not only daft to do that, it's risking the clubs existence ! I'm 100% sure that, providing we steer clear of relegation, this summer we'll have funds to spend and stregthen significantly. Bojan coming back would, in my opinion, be a dream. It'd give the whole place a lift. Imbula, not so, but at the same time, if he can come back and offer us the quality we need against the teams around us, then get him back in! Against the big boys, I suspect we'll be abit more cautious, but these next few games, we'll be going all out to win

The board would be stupid not to back their man now. The squad is the weakest it's been since promotion and we need to give ourselves every chance of staying up. Might as well get Bojan back if he's not playing and give him a good, but we can't hang our hopes on him as there's been scant sign of the magician version of him for the best part of three years.

Against the big boys, I suspect we'll be abit more cautious, but these next few games, we'll be going all out to win I'll be very disappointed if we don't spend big, if at all possible, on a central midfielder. Our options there are absolutely embarrassing. We've really dropped down the list in terms of spending and wage bills over the last 3 seasons (pretty much in the bottom 4 or 5 on both counts) - and whether we're prepared to spend 8-figures for a bloke to partner Allen for the second half of the season will tell us a lot. If we're really as terrified at the prospect of relegation, and the subsequent drop in income that'd come with it, as reports suggest we are, the wallet will be out big-style.

Good to see we are actually bringing in a LB, however how fit is he going to be not played for two months is it really what we need in the position we are in ?, fingers crossed he will be a better option than Tymon or the useless Wimmer.

If we're really as terrified at the prospect of relegation, and the subsequent drop in income that'd come with it, as reports suggest we are, the wallet will be out big-style. If we do 'spend big' on anyone at all we surely can't offer yet another one of these 5 and a half year contracts which have become 'de rigeur' for us. It's those contracts rather than transfer fees which are going to financially kill us if the grim reaper does call in May. We would already be taking Wimmer, Berahino and Imbula in to the Championship on 5 year contracts, all 3 are unmovable even if we were willing to give them way given their wages and contract durations. For that reason (financial prudence) I fancy we are restricted to loan only for any 'big hitter' we might sign.

It's clear he didn't know who Stafylidis was but he's now having to step in line with what Scholes said. Even in the presser he says “I was only invited to watch Augsburg train, I didn’t really look at any of the players “Stoke had been watching him for a while “I watched him play (videos) “ he looks a good left back “ I don’t know how fit he is So I read that this is not Lamberts choice but he has gone along with it. We need cover there for sure but Bauer and Staffy were not his picks per se. The club knows what was listed as shortcomings by the last management and have cracked on by the looks of it.
