Except he met with the club and agreed terms. Except that he obviously didn't agree terms or he'd be the manager now. He did agree terms. He didn't sign the contract. Happens all the time in jobs and businesses.

It is easy to jump to the conclusion that Paul Lambert has very little to offer However,a look back at his record suggests many positives... Lambert was given no money to spend in his last few seasons at Villa, nor at Blackburn or Wolves. I believe he left Blackburn of his own accord at the end of that season His win % at Wolves was very good when he departed at the season end (was there a change of ownership?) His earlier managerial career at Norwich and Villa was superb. He brought in many young faces at Villa in particular And he is only 48 - young but experienced Looking good? For me it’s not all bad, it might work out fine which no doubt we all wish for that. My issue is that today, as things lie, the appointment of Lambert is shocking. Irrespective of what the outcome is the message it sends is poor, there is no hiding the fact his profile is crap right now and it makes the club look desperate and importantly loses the injection of hope and enthusiasm you’d hope to gain by getting a new manager in our position. Like I said tomorrow, next week, next year it might look different. Today its a shocker.

I hope he has not really signed the 2 and half year deal. I am hoping it a short term deal, before he gets the two and half year, if he kept Stoke City up.

One thing to remember. Our last Jock manager was a good in.

Must get behind him and the team,he might well surprise us,the club have gone about this in a farcical manner, not his fault,so give him a chance. With him we might survive with the previous encumbrant we were truly fucked.

I see the happy clapping, glass-half-full -Brigade are out in force already. I’ll give lambert the benefit of the doubt, but I am underwhelmed

His win ratio at all clubs (bar Livingston and Villa) have been better than Hughes' overall Stoke reign, and his overall career win ratio is better too

It feels like Kamara all over again If it turns out that we had the chance to bring in a better option but didn't because they had no PL experience then I think we have the right to vent big time in May. For now, its time to support and hopefully this bloke will surprise us. At Villa he was hung out to dry by Lerner, it'll be interesting to see whether our Chairman will do better.

He was a bright up and comer until he got stuck with a doldrums club and that battered his reputation.
I think he will keep us up. This is all very Mk.1 Pulis.

I want to see if this is just panic by the club or genuine intention. This will be tested by what Lambert is given transfer kitty wise over the next 2 weeks. If its a pittance then he is just a stopgap and I dont see the 2.5 year contract as any kind of guage as the whole of that contract is probably worth less than Espanyols compensation for QSF. For me you will see the true intention of SCFC over the next 2 weeks

it smacks of an unambitious club with one eye on being in the championship next season. What has lambert done recently that warrants him getting the job ? he's got the job because there is nobody else, simple as that, we're supposed to be impressed that he identified our strengths and weaknesses in the interview ? lol jesus wept, one only needs to have a glance at the goals against column to see where the weakness is! although i am reasonably impressed that he managed to identify some strengths
