It is easy to jump to the conclusion that Paul Lambert has very little to offer However,a look back at his record suggests many positives... Lambert was given no money to spend in his last few seasons at Villa, nor at Blackburn or Wolves. I believe he left Blackburn of his own accord at the end of that season His win % at Wolves was very good when he departed at the season end (was there a change of ownership?) His earlier managerial career at Norwich and Villa was superb. He brought in many young faces at Villa in particular And he is only 48 - young but experienced Looking good?

I agree - given the options, he's a credible appointment, hopefully he'll be well backed by the board and fans. I think he could turn out to be a very good appointment.

An absolutely pathetic appointment.
This is worse than when we appointed Hughes.

Paul Lambert can go fuck himself. We stand no chance with that reaction. Stay away from games until the end of season, thanks.

Let's wait and see what he does, and give him the benefit of the doubt and give him our support, if he keeps us up (if the players can be arsed a bit mor about it than they have been) then all the usual knicker wetting negativity from a lot will have been for nothing. If not then Coates should get all the stick he deserves for the last 18 months of clusterfuckery.

The club made the error by not sacking Hughes last summer , this bloke will organise the team and get them fighting , I don't expect anyone to feel over the moon about how things are but the reaction is ridiculous TBH way over the top . .

The whole thing is massively disappointing. The fans' reaction is utterly justified. But the quicker we all move into the 'acceptance' phase and get on with the job-in-hand, the better. There are worse candidates out there, that's for sure.
He shouldn't have been appointed imho, but this isn't his fault. He is our new manager now and there's not a whole lot we can do (that I know of anyway). We have to back the lads, bring in the players we desperately need, and get ourselves out of this bloody mess asap.

I think from where we were Lambert was the best appointment we could make.
He is a serious individual who knows the Prem and the Championship and it seems our squad.
I have a good feeling about this appointment.

at least the players who aren't putting in a transfer request have someone to impress tonight - and the ones who want out need to put themselves in the shop window.
I'm not overwhelmed with this but I cannot change it so have to be positive (however hard that is)

I could’ve just about got behind a six month firefighting appointment John. But the two and a half year deal is very difficult to swallow. He’s going to have to perform miracles to avoid being a dead man walking. I’m seriously disillusioned here

He’s got something to prove at least. The ‘dog home’ signings under Pulis tended to do quite well, this is definitely the managerial equivalent

Let's not pick on the bloke Lambo himself but the boring board. Will have to give him a chance despite the whole shenanigans being a farce.

I have a good feeling about this appointment. I agree. I'm quite positive about it. Rather have someone relatively normal who wants the job and wants to succeed, than someone we need to bend over backwards to sign because they're not interested. I'd put Lambert ahead of half the names listed on here. Including Bruce and MON.

After 3 or more rejections this is not the appointment everyone wanted. I think everyone agrees that the way this has been handled by SCFC hierarchy is eamatyerish and embarrassing. I don't think this regime is sufficiently proactive or professional enough to take this club anywhere. Having said that, negativity towards the new manager at this point is suicide. So zip up your man suits ladies and let's get behind him and more importantly Stoke. He deserves a chance for having the balls to do this.
