www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/stoke-city-mark-hughes-sacked-998359Hughes was left fighting for his managerial life after losing 1-0 at home to Newcastle on New Year's Day. That result was a tipping point for the club's owners and he was expected to be dismissed next week anyway. But today's result forced a re-think this evening and leaves the club looking for a new manager in time for their next game at Manchester United on Monday week. They will expect to make an appointment next week and back him in the January transfer window. Can't see Coates splitting one of his billions though.

In my eyes it's pretty obvious that we've been inquiring into the managerial market for probably a few weeks. I'm 99% sure that we've already informally approached our no. 1 target, we have 4 big games coming up after man utd I'm certain work has already been done behind the scenes

Like sky news have just said, if Bowen has gone with him, who will take day to day duties next week? It's going have to be a quick decision on the new manager Not really - the utd game is a right off. Stick the tea lady in charge for the week and sort the staff in due course.

Hopefully in May we don't regret not sacking him before the Newcastle game, those should have been 3 points in the bag. A cardboard cut out manager would have managed at least a draw against them

tony gayle has just let the cat out of the bag on sky, says he has been talking to eddie whats hes name and then says about recruitment was poor and not entirely marks fault.that means he was not recruiting these players. That sounds like a major overhaul of the Denise business model is due over the coming weeks.

Do we have our next man lined up? He was told we wanted Rodgers. But since he's been told it's Derbys manager we want.

Rodgers would be available provided celtic are paid off and he is given a budget. Rodgers would have pulling power for players, and he will have a ready list of targets. I hope we try for him. I think we could get him mid season but it will cost

Not sure if I’m pooing myself more or less than before, now that he’s gone. Weird feeling. Pleased yet sad. He’s a decent, proud bloke and I hope he doesn’t feel like we all hate him. This next appointment is huge and I don’t know if I’m excited or nervous.

you can always PM me who your source is if you don't want to publicly announce it, but even if you did post it publicly it wouldn't affect further information because it proves he knows nothing. He wasn't bull shitting. They have only just made this decision. No way after his interview after the game did he think or know he was going. So it was, indeed, bullshit

Hughes has been givin fuck all about organizing the defence since his arrival. In the long run that kind of sloppiness will lead you in to hell of a lot of trouble..
The next manager have to sort out the defensive problems and build a complete new structure. Ranieri, Pearson or O’Neill( or somebody similar to them ) will manage to keep us up.

Feel quite sad it's come to this. He got us off our seats and out of the Vinegar Tits slumber. Very disappointed in the club for how this has been made public last week though. Nobody deserves that. It needed to happen but it needed to happen weeks ago before it even got to this. Hughes should also be the first on what is a complete shake up upstairs. Peter, sorry but your time is up. You need to move aside and let your son move in with a new broom. Scholes, you also need to go. You have overseen this mess from day one to the very end. Finally the two senior figures in the recruitment also need to be shown the door. If the new manager is experienced he will know who he needs and who he doesn't. There won't be any time for indepth scouting anyway. The recruitment over the last 2 seasons in particular has been a disgrace. The wrong types of players have been bought in with the wrong skill sets and the wrong characters. Too many cheap risks and loans have been taken in a league that throws money at it's members. How can you seriously fail if you adopt a sensible approach to recruitment? You can't. You simply can't. We've taken our eyes off the ball and taken it all for granted. We could possibly lose the lot. Absolutely nobody comes out of this with any credit whatsoever. You should all be ashamed. And we all know that no-one other than hughes and his staff will be sacked. Cartwright and Scholes will go on their merry way without anyone even questioning their fookin role in this farce.
