He's a quality headless chicken....
Better suited to a more forward midfield roll than a defensive midfield roll, as he leaves too many gaps for other teams to exploit!!!

Works hard, very small, gives the ball away a lot. Just about acceptable but our other midfielders are making him look brilliant.

A fantastic player. Work rate is outstanding, yes occasionally a few passes go astray, but when you are as involved in the game as much as him I'll forgive him that.
With a few better players around him I think you would see even more from him.
We desperately need a striker. One that is more mobile than crouch. (not knocking the man) berahino is a second striker, diouf is not good enough to be a striker on his own(or at all really)

I like Joe but if there is one thing that annoys me with our squad is lack of ball control and Joe is the biggest culprit.
The question that is commonly asked is What do they do in training? The answer seems to be Untrain

I think they were higlighted in a recent programme, Cicero is the latin for chickpea, probably farming them made the family the money

Said this all along...has always done his best work for us in a more forward role...and less likely to cost us a goal. Playing really well at the moment (in that more advanced position!)

One of our best signings and true premier league quality - fantastic work rate, no airs and graces and is carrying this team currently - should be captain IMHO
Yes - I rate him !

Last season started well but looked tired by mid season, probably due to Wales Euro run.
This season started slow but seems to be getting better each game.

We'd be up shit creek right now without him that's for sure
Currently doing the running for not two, but probably three players all told and, has a quality touch and can score goals
whats not to like ?
and some people are not sure about him ????
nor recognise his massive contribution at present ?
now that IS fucking weird

He's not a #10 but I think it's his best role for us which is worrying as we need someone so much better there. He can't really play in the deeper roles. Other than that I don't know why anyone would worry about him.

Bayern
We never replaced Nzonzi
IF we still had him ( or anything like) AND Joe Allen - we'd be not far off top six - seventh - I reckon
margins are that fine I reckon
and until Hughes finds someone like him -his job security will always be somewhat fragile

This 'headless chicken' retort is just plain boorish. He's one of our three top players. Tackles, scores , assists, closes down. Maybe not good enough to start for Liverpool. Definitely good enough for us.

I don't properly understand all the very technical 'is he a #10?', 'is he a CDM?' arguments but I know one thing for certain, we'd be sunk without trace already this season if we didn't have him.

Definitely good enough for us. It really isn't and it causes us so many problems. He does all that running and it just creates more gaps as no one else is doing it. Hence why he's better in the 10 role for us. It makes us more solid as he isn't going awol deeper.

Good, honest footballer. ... vauable asset in our team of average quality players. The comparison with Dean Whitehead is a fair one. Deano's contribution to the Pulis era was immense.

Definitely good enough for us. 'Headless chicken' is just an impolite way of saying 'keeps himself fit and is willing to die for the cause on match day'. Have a look at Pep's teams, Barcelona and now Man City, you can be as good as you like but if you don't work your taters off on the pitch then you can forget about starting.
