In my opinion Stokes best player this season so far... And by some margin too.

One of our players that we used to pride ourselves as a club on.. world hard, doesn't give up, doesn't moan but he gets sacrificed to accommodate other players. We should build our team around him

Think he’s excellent he runs his boll*x off every game, he hassles the opposition endlessly forcing them to pass the ball and make mistakes. He’s not frightened of going in hard at tackles, He also no frightened of going for goal...could do with a couple more like Allen .....players who give 100%

He's improved as the season's progressed, Joe's been one of our better players this season but that really isn't saying much.
He's to weak in the tackle for me, especially playing in a midfield 2, too many times have I seen him lose possession and teams stream through our midfield.
6.5/10 at best

If West Ham are in for him that can only mean that Arnie has given Moyes the inside to him being a great player or he’s up for a move at the right price. We can’t afford to lose him.

He's a quality headless chicken.... Better suited to a more forward midfield roll than a defensive midfield roll, as he leaves too many gaps for other teams to exploit!!! So who’s going to push us forward if Big Joe stays in position?

I like Joe, energetic, gives his all and our best player this season. For me it was he who got us the draw at Hiddersfield he drove us on. Keep it up Joe

Headless chicken, deserter of defensive position, loser of the ball, put whatever tag you choose to Allen but West Ham are sniffing around and as with Arnie, double the salary and a fair to decent Manager and he’ll be gone. What then? Take your pick Adam, Ireland or Afellay.

If we sell to them, we might as well give up! What even if we reinvest and buy more suitable players?

So who’s going to push us forward if Big Joe stays in position? As the minority are pointing out the deficiencies in our team don't make Joe Allen a better player he isn't a great fit for any of our roles. He's too small and undisciplined to play one of the holding roles and his ball control and passing and vision is too poor for a No10. He's our best centre midfielder by a mile but he's still a large part of the problem, just not as big a part as the other shower of shit.

If we sell to them, we might as well give up! If we could sell him and get Carvalho and another competent midfielder with physical presence it would be very beneficial.

Well if that's true....he can only leave during the January transfer window, which I'm sure we'd then have the money from his sale for an adequate replacement..... Maybe even someone who holds his position, who knows???

Decent player who would be infinitely more effective if he had a top quality central midfielder alongside him.

In a list of players brought to the club by Mark and the team, Joe Allen would currently rank higher than Berahino, Van Ginkel, Guidetti, Bony, Bojan, Moha, Muniesa, Imbula, Ireland, Given, Haugaard, Johnson, Bardsley, Wimmer, Tymon, Souttar, Assaidi, Wollscheid, Choupo and Jesé.
He also gives Zouma and BMI a good run for their money. Moses was a good acquisition but was injured too often. Arnie and Shaq are more talented but are less consistent. Grant offered great value and did very well. Given his age and relative lack of experience will he ever establish himself as a regular first choice at Premiership level?
Joe Allen is the very least of our worries and definitely one of Hughes’ better purchases.

Joe Allen played in a more foreward role plus the odd defensive duty is one of our better options from the little choices we have at the moment.
He can and does score goals and assists in this position.
Selling him to one of our immediate rivals would be plain crazy IMO.
My personal ambition to retain some interest in this poor so far is to remain and finish above W Ham and W Brom.

Once again the cunts trying to destabilise one of our players by leaking reports to the media. I thought tapping up was illegal?

Our midfield was being overrun long before Joe Allen was signed, even when we had the "disciplined" Whelan. I agree with others who say we need more strength in midfield, but Allen would still be a part of it. Of all the players to criticize, I don't get why Allen gets so much flak.

Central midfield is the biggest issue though. The other central midfielder is the biggest issue. The whole area is. We needed a new midfield in the summer. That hasn't changed.

Before the season started i would have been happy to sell him, but as it turns out without him i reckon we'd truly be up shit creek right now, easily the best player at the club this season (especially the last 10 or so games) yes he loses the ball a lot with his swashbuckling style of play, but he also wins the ball an awful lot as well and injects much needed energy and some pace to the midfield.

Yes but it doesn't have to be a choice between Joe Allen and what we have now its a choice between Joe Allen and what you could replace him with. A fee for Joe Allen and a realistic bottom end Premier League transfer budget should produce about £50/60M that sort of money buys you 2 very decent holding midfielders and a bit of change left over for this cheap full back they're chasing. Pay the going rate don't compromise on your choice of player and you should end up in a far better place.
