Difficult question with timing. If the board got rid of him now then arguably it's too late for someone to come in and identify what they'd need to do with any January money. Could easily lead to knee jerk spending which could make us worse. I think there's not really an option bar stick with him. Obviously that won't sit well with a portion of the fan base. This is assuming no one's already been lined up of course

How many Supporters do we have? and how many log on to this site? God forbid that some looks at this site from around the World and takes it as the Normal Stoke View. TEST I know plenty of Stoke fans who don't come anywhere near this place and to a man they all want Hughes out.

TEST You do know what an opinion poll is? problem here is that fan forums have a tendency to be over run with negativity so I don't think opinion polls in one give a true picture. Plus look how many people have voted. Tiny number compared to the fanbase.

Hughes is a great bloke. He did a brilliant job over the first couple of years. This shouldn't get personal. If it drags on too long without Coates taking action though, it will get ugly. We are beyond useless.
We need to severe ties and move on.

Out and immediately (as in Monday morning)
That’ll hopefully give the team a kick start for Saturday, failing which I think we’ll lose again and get a new man in who can make some positive decisions tactically and get a few new faces in during the January window.
I’m not coming back till he’s gone.

Yesterday showed more than anything else, what we've all known deep down for a while. There is no Lazarus like comeback for Hughes. He's lost and sadly looking increasingly pathetic. Such a shame but this is now a matter of urgency and if the board haven't at least identified, if not sounded out a replacement then it is a massive dereliction of duty. To expect a new man to come in and work with our current recruitment team is also unsustainable. The new broom, when it comes, needs to sweep out places other than the dugout. The club is starting to look diseased at all levels. That's simply not going to happen in January though, it should have happened in the summer. This mess is entirely of our own making.

He should go straight away. The Hughes project has clearly failed. Let the Keegan era begin.

We’re in the position we are due to way too many poor signings. Hughes and anyone else at the club who has been involved in the identification and recruitment of the players need to go.

If we keep Hughes we're going down, nothing is so sure.
He has to go now. He should have gone in the summer, arguably the summer before. The current mess we're in could have and should have been avoided.
Don't delay a minute longer, the new manager needs a window and as many games as possible to try and turn things around.

I’m not coming back till he’s gone. What are you smoking? Whatever it is, I’ll have some. Can you or anyone else tell me who, in their right mind, would leave their present team and come to Stoke? There’s very, very few players available in January and those that are available aren’t any good. If we couldn’t get decent players in the Summer, how the hell are we going to get decent players in January.

For the same reason people follow leaders that are taking them to the abyss. Blind Faith and a fear of change or the unknown. Even Richard Nixon had a significant following right up until the point when he lost his core supporters in Congress. Even then, they had to go the White House and tell him to go.

He goes at the end of the season for me. Two reasons for this.... 1. There is no one available that is either out of work or realistic. 2. I would like a more considered appointment, where the manager has a summer to work out exactly what to do with the unbalanced collection Hughes has amassed.

I get my 91 year old dad to as many home games as possible,he watches with the same intensity as he did in 1938 which was his first home game. He's as critical of the players now as he was then his question is 'where's the fight gone'?.

So many posters miss the most important point: there are not a lot, maybe not any, good managers available. The idea that Brendan Rodgers would be interested, for instance, is laughable. The very suggestion reveals a complete failure to understand where we are in the pecking order. Plus, I always think that it's the players, not the manager, that really matter. Hughes's signings have been pretty poor, but his sales have been disastrous. Hughes himself tells the story of seeing on his first home match day how good the team attitude was - Shawcross screwed up and let Chamakh, the Crystal Palace striker, bully him for the opening goal. At half time Hughes said he just watched as ... Jon Walters (of course) and substitute Glenn Whelan tore Ryan a new one, followed by five minutes of serious sorting out of positioning and strategy. At full time we won 2-1, Shawcross got the winner. Who, do you think, drives the team on the field now? Who moans, threatens, curses, sends out the death stare and shows by his example that this actually matters? So, keep him till close season.

I've supported Hughes but his time is up. He's got to go BUT it's not all down to him. Like I have been saying for years, the club is run by a bunch amateurs.
I've also questioned the recruitment for years and years, I'm actually surprised it's taken this long to bite us in the arse.
It's nothing short of a scandal.

Well as with most things like this, there is never a box that I can tick. My opinion is that he needs to go, but not until another manager has been selected. Sacking if we lose the next match isn't an option - unless we have someone ready to step in and take charge. This $#!t has been coming for long enough to source a replacement

The problem starts at the very top Coates for all his good work both for the club & the city needs to stand down he has also surrounded himself with yes men who are not fit for the job & are just happy to pick up there huge pay packets without any real input or feeling for the club or the supporters. The club is a shambles from top to bottom in fact its run like a league 1 side with things done on the cheap in all aspects. I stated earlier in the season that we would struggle to stay in this league with free transfers as you cannot do things on the cheap in this league you have to spend big & wisely just to stand still. I do not understand the thinking of Coates to let things stagnate & regress to the point were we a staring relegation in the face. Hughes should have gone last summer & his backroom staff who i think are a big part of the problem.
