And the main problem for any new manager is two of our best centre backs are out now till the new year Cameron and Ryan will be OK. Zouma is overated and frankly dog shit. Problem is, GCam is even more needed in midfield - Fletcher looks dog tired and we have ZERO adequate cover.

Could we persuade Bilic? I'd take him.

Good God. Poison, Drowning, Burnt to death and run over by a truck. What a choice with those 4. That's where we are at. Anyone expecting a Rafa, a Rodgers, someone from abroad or from the Championship is utterly bonkers in my view. Tbh Martin O'Neill is the best of that bunch. Desperate I know.

I would go for Rowet.
Shit or bust.
Not sure he would come.
We are starting to look unattractive.
A short time ago I was all for waiting until the closed season.

That's bonkers Paul. Coates will not appoint a manager with no Premier League experience, you must know that's true. John Coates might, who knows, but it won't be him having the final say in current situation.

Is his record all that good? He was at Brighton wasn't he? Coates is reaping what he has sown isn't he.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Óscar_García_JunyentWhat jumps off his CV though, Paul? Can't see anywhere near enough on there to go for a distinctly un-Coates-like type? If we're going foreign, Galtier still seems like the best bet. If we're staying domestic, haven't got a clue. Can't see us attracting even a Rowett

Thankfully there's other options. Nonsense and even mentions Gary Johnson amongst lower league candidates Really? Cheltenham Town's Gary Johnson?? This alone shows the author as a know nothing dickhead. The only sensible suggestion is made by the one person who has commented and that's Ranierri, but we know that Coates would never be able to get his head around anything so exotic. BM

Oh absolutely Galtier is the best choice but I was using Garcia as a specific response to Lordb's point to the claim that Coates wouldn't appoint a foreign manager who hadn't coached in England - he has.
And I absolutely would take him ahead of any of the realistic British candidates.
Martin O'Neil? Give me a break.
If Coates is genuinely going to limit himself to British candidates only, then sadly, he's become a part of the problem.

There are very few who should be dismissed out of hand. Someone with a bit of clout in the transfer market who knows how to assemble a good, all round squad shouldn't be that hard, surely?

No I'm not saying he wouldn't appoint a foreign manager (although he will always favour British).I am saying he won't appoint anyone who hasn't managed in the Premier League. He would see that as a gamble. In my view that dogmatic approach is wrong. However given that is his mindset, given Hughes time is up, given he can't appoint Pulis and given the list of managers who fit Coates criteria who would take the job right now is fucking wank then the only option is to appoint a manager till the end of the season. Can't see anyone better who fits all that than Martin O'Neill.
