One man in the clubs 150 odd year history took us to our lowest level on two occasions whilst trying to run the football club without putting any money into it. How many occasions during our history have we played at that level? So alster, you are advocating that we get rid of the Coates family? And replace with who exactly? An Icelandic consortium? A Russian consortium? A Chinese billionaire? Oh wait, I know, Donald Trump! After all we wear red and white stripes, all we need to do is add a blue band down each sleeve with silver stars and we”re sorted! Don't care what colour they are, just how much they are willing to invest and they actually live in the current century not some warm fuzzy yesteryear when people behaved differently.

Haha, yeah I reckon you’re right there. John was the driving force behind the Pulis sacking and it was John who put Hughes name forward. Peter still holds the reins but I think John will play a bigger role as his father gets older. Denise really doesn’t have much interest in Stoke City at all. Do we actually know this? I’m fairly certain on all counts yes, no reason whatsoever to doubt the person that told me at all. They do not post on here, go to games or have any interest in football at all but are very close to the family.

Without Peter Coates's investment we'd probably be in League One now. I know we're all frustrated that he hasn't pulled the trigger on Hughes yet, but let's not get completely fucking stupid. Coates has provided funds every transfer window- it's not his fault that the manager spends it like a chav lottery winner. All he can do is fire him, which he will do very soon. The leagues below us are full of bigger clubs than us who've been badly run by owners who don't give a fuck about the club or the fans. Some of you lot won't rest until we're back there. Bloody top post that is, marra.

Bloody top post that is, marra. Peter Coates is a very rich Stoke fan who has as much passion for his club as the hard core fans in the seats. He and his family are astute business people who know how to run the club. I wonder how the cv of the people who want rid compares to theirs??!! When you have the skills and past experiences of them then you can challenge. Support the club through thick and thin !

Don't need to be, never heard of MO modus operandi. The way the club is run has all the hallmarks of Peter and none of the owner, his Daughter. Well...it was her idea that the club should be self sustainable. A brilliant business idea. A poor footballing decision.

Your one man crusade against Peter Coates is getting a little embarrassing....... Have to agree - there's having a view and being content with that view being expressed, and then, it seems there are some that have a view, which gradually conveys deeper message to spectators: an evolving determination/demonstration of being almost excessively consumed with bile and venom. Some people on here need to take a pill and calm down a teensy weensy bit.

If Coates sacks Hughes this week and we go on to be relegated this season, will those currently demanding an immediate change of manager look back happily and say "never mind, it was still the right decision"?
Just wondering.

Peter Coates and family have been conning the people of Stoke for years .His goal is not on the football pitch but is to make money. He will invest the minimum to get his Sky money. I would like to know what dividends he and his family have take from the club as compared to his investment You realise the Coates have invested more than they've taken back out right ? You also realise that the bet365 board (the Coates family) also wrote off the debts that the club owed to them. Frankly you haven't got a clue, I fully expect our chairman to make a decision if not before next week's game then shortly after should we not get at least 4 points from the next 2. You could argue he should have gone along time ago but the season is still salvageable from a new manger and our club should 've praised for how it handles it's business when it comes to the hiring and firing of managers. Plenty of others just replace every 12 months and 99% of the time it ends in disaster. I agree with all you say, but the amount of personal wealth compared to his first stint as chairman Is poles apart. The self sufficient model doesn’t work ask Sunderland villa etc

I don't keep a record of the worst threads ever posted in the history of the Oatcake, but I'm sure this must be in the top 5.
We're very, very, very lucky to have Peter Coates. I suppose some people won't be happy unless he sells up to a bunch of Indian chicken farmers who want to use the club to advertise barbecue chicken wings, or a nutty Malaysian who wants to change our shirts to blue and rename us 'Stoke Dragons'.

I was there through all of his first stint and still here during his second. He didn't have the money during the first stint and maybe not the knowledge he now has. He and his son are massive Stoke fans, his daughter is the one who took them from millionaire to Billionaires. They must feel each loss as bad as ourselves but they have an insight to the world of football, agents, attitude of players, problems of players and many more things. So how can you as a person who knows a fraction of what they know criticise. Only a fool calls their tenure as shit when they do not know the full facts or at least as much as they do. I having supported through all of the Coates ownership thank them for where they have Stoke now. During the very dark times in the lower leagues I never thought we would ever be in the Premier League, so support the present manager and team. To those who boo whilst the players are on the pitch or leaving it, hang you head in shame and stay at home as you cause more damage than assistance by being there.
