It would be an interesting experiment - might work and might not. I don't think that Stoke can take the risk in their current predicament. They are again looking to do things 'on the cheap' as it were. Better to shell out £25 million for a proven goalscorer with the right attitude. It will be cheaper in the long run. Easy to say but that striker is ... ?Dembele? Vincent Aboubakar?

Injury concerns and a flashy Utube vid respectively are not a lot to hang your hat on when it comes down to it and the pressure everyone at the club is under not to have ano flop.
And getting them with a week to go?
Mmm. You have greater faith in the pizza squad than I do.
Much like the appt. of Lambert, I can see a more cautious (&cheaper) move for a striker, just in case the brown stuff hits the fan come May.

Theo Walcott would have done - as far as I can see we didn't show any interest
How about Callum Wilson? Big lad - good scoring record. I've always rated him.

Hope we don't try and be cute with the striker AND the midfielder though! It's all gone very quiet on N'Diaye too. www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/stoke-city-transfers-harrison-ings-1105646He joined the Turkish club for around £6.6m last summer, but reports in Turkey claim Galatasaray are now setting the bar as high as £17.5m to do a deal in this window. Such figures could persuade Stoke to look elsewhere, or wait until the summer before re-visiting the deal.
The Harrison deal looks a very sensible gamble - but it's a bonus signing for this month. Getting a midfielder and striker of quality is imperative - and I was convinced we'd go very big to get at least one of them.

"Cute", I suspect, Grapey is the new "Cautious" is the new "shitting it because we simply cannot afford to have ano transfer cock up on our hands".
So, yes, I think they are.
Let's split the difference and just call it "careful" - especially when, as a board, they probably sanctioned Wimper on, presumably, sure fire, dead cert 'professional' recommendations from Farto and LMH - and look how that's going.
I agree though, both positions are vital to our chances of survival and the counter argument si that it is time to be bold but only for the right player(s).
Hence, I can see DI as a suitable option on loan (if he's actually up & running again and not just a 'name') if only because it allows them to opt out of a high pressure recruitment decision at least until we know our fate.

If we could get him and keep him fit ings would be an asset for sure. I must admit I (as a neutral) saw him playing for Burnley against the shit 3/4 years ago and I must admit he was absolute head and shoulders above anyone on the pitch

He seemed to fracture it a couple of times against us when he played for Burnley and needed extensive treatment every time we got the initiative in that game. Hope it got better.

That was the same game their keeper went down with cramp. Top level shithousery.
