He's a short, fat bloke from the arse end of Winchester who hasn't played any meaningful football for the thick end of 3 years, I very much doubt he is the answer, whatever the question might be!

it would be a very poor signing
Can't keep fit and has had what 1 good season in the premier league.
He should utilise the strike force he already has better.

Bring Ings in on loan with an option to sign him up permanently at the end of the season, and send Berahino out on loan to a Championship club for the rest of the season.

Buy him for 15m and add him to the scrapheap of Hughes' strikers within 6 months

He needs a central midfield player before bringing in yet another striker - and a right back

Before his injury I'd have snapped their hand off, not sure now. Maybe a loan until end of season would suit all parties.

To risky to buy. Possibly a loan deal although I would prefer Sturridge.

He's good in the air, he can hold the ball up, he can play as a lone striker. Really? If you asked him directly what his qualities are, he wouldn't say any of those things. He's nowhere near 6ft and he's about 11 stone wet through. Good in the air is quite laughable to be frank. Edit - at his best for Burnley, his strike partner was Sam Vokes and they played very much as a 2 most of the time. Hmm, a striker who plays in a two, who hasn't played football for years, ill-suited to the lone striker role? Quick, someone stop hughes from spending 20 million on him to play as a lone striker before permanently dropping him after five games

Was a good player and may be a good player again, but then we have BerAhino and Jese already who are the same. We've then got Ngoy and Campbell who can sit on the bench and not be used just how the others aren't, really we need to lose Jese our Berahino before taking another striker on. The way we are going on we would have little to lose with N'Goy and Campbell on the bench anyway...

"Top priority" for West Brom too according to this - so pretty much every second-tier Prem club is after him by the looks of it.
Suppose geography could help us?

Newcastle have Joselu, I wonder if Ings would play alongside him or instead of him?
I suppose the official line would be just to give them a few more options.
Joselu seemed to get off to a bright start there but I haven't really heard anything since and Newcastle have been plummeting down the league table faster than a greased pig in the last few weeks much to my amusement.

As I said when his name was bandied about a couple of months ago, are we capable of signing a player who hasn't had about 18 months out of the game/had a very serious injury/isn't completely out of form?

AHHH sigh !!!!
-I love these nostalgic trips to the supermarket aisle where they keep all the 'dented tins and damaged goods'
and one day, we might even learn that its not actually worth it

Underwhelming link to be honest. Hope it doesn’t come off. Better out there for less and not so reliable is Ings, always hurt.

Ings looks like being yet another striker who has one really good season in the lower leagues gets a dream move then fades away... Ted McDougall ring any bells for older members?
