If you're going to start implying that thousands upon thousands of paying fans (who are frustrated with 22 months of abject crap) aren't worthy of being called fans because they let out a bit of frustration while we were behind and playing poorly to a side in the bottom three, we may as well pack up. If all the people who booed today stopped turning up, we'd be back in the lower leagues before the end of the decade. That’s a fair comment if you replace the word (fans) with customers. Not saying I disagree. I just think that is the current situation in football, unfortunately.

Who booed Eric Pieter's you're a fucking disgrace I was going title the thread to all the supporters who...but I couldn't class you as that because you are not I agree, to boo him isn't OK at all! I'm really fed up by his numerous mistakes, but I will never boo him. I would like to see him given a rest though as he in every match seems to make a crucial mistake!

The only thing that would justify booing you own player would be clear lack of effort something you could never say about Eric.

Thought Erik was very good 2nd half. He has made errors but to boo him is shocking . He always gives his all and shows his appreciation to the fans at the end of every game. I think it is wrong to boo any of your own players This. His attitude after getting the abuse from the crowd was exemplary and showed what a pro he is. Yes we all know how wank he is but he showed massive bollocks on Saturday I thought and actually played well for the majority.

He definitely showed some bollocks, he had been sloppy with the ball first half/not been at his best but got his shit together & got stuck in second half. We want better but if he can play like that more often the issue becomes less pressing up to him

Does this not fall into the same category as the oft-discussed 'fans who leave early' question???
The concensus following those debates tends to side with the 'paying customers can do what they want' theory - does this not apply to booing?
Just asking like...

Apparently being a paying customer buying a leisure product makes you a right wanker not fit to breathe the same air as some our well hard superfans.

First Pieters had a good game. Stats can lie but I did think he played well in this one. Second, that he has more touches and interceptions because the opposition goes at him seeing his side as a place they may have an advantage.

They are Premier league teams they analyze everything to death. We just watch the games once and know which side the bulk of our goals conceded come from.

From where I was sat I think people were booing because we turned an attack into a backpass to the keeper (shock horror) I didn't think for one minute the fans were booing Eric?

Booing or clapping is a choice...And it is entirely upto individuals to do WTF they like on either occasion. If we only had fans that were 100% content 100% of the time we'd be lucky to get 5,000...Just dunna get why folk get all sniffy over other peoples opinions...Man up and enjoy....Regardless of others...

And you expect the idiots in our crowd to recognise That? 30 seconds before they'd abused him for trying to thread the ball through the eye of a needle and giving it away. Then they abuse him for keeping the ball. He can't win with these wankers no matter what he does. He tucked inside to cover an absent BMI at one point and was abused for "supposedly being a full back, where the fuck are you". You won't be surprised to learn that the same tossers said nothing about zouma being inside all fucking game long. Wankers! Makes me laugh that you will go to obscene lengths to defend one of the wankest full backs this division has ever seen. I normally stay well away from questioning what people know about football based on their comments. But in your case I'll make an exception. You are a moron with that comment.

Immediately after the halftime whistle I noticed that Erik was looking out towards the stands on his side as he walked off. He looked a bit bewildered and confused. Obviously wondering what kind of offence he's committed to be booed by his own fans.
We have loved to big up ourselves when we had accolades for the best atmosphere and when our club looks after players like Delap and Wilkinson (and now Ireland). But imagine how our club will be viewed by the pros we want to sign when they realise that you can be a fixture in the team for nearly 5 years and get booed by your own fans. And a player who has never done anything remotely close to deserving it. No contract disputes, no tantrums, no critcising the fans. Nothing. Just 100% effort and often in a role uncomfortable to him.
He's a top bloke which is evidenced by the fact he hasn't yet reacted to it.

Much better in a flat back four the combination of him and Wimmer still gives me the willies. I blame Wimmer for that though don't know how fair that is just can't see what he's good at.

And when he thought the ref was in the wrong, he shouted... F@cking boo!
I just love the idea, he could actually be bothered to upgrade A boo to A F@cking boo

I watch him pretty much every week and I know that he is shit. At his best he has always been a limited full back at this level and he's a player that I've never rated ever since he signed, but over the last 12 months or so he has been absolutely dire both in defence and help in four going forward. Moron or not I have watched enough nogger to know what makes a good full back and Eric Pieters doesn't fall into that category and I can't think of any worse first choice full backs in this league who are as bad as he is.

It's amazing that he has played 150 games at that level and also played internationally for Holland. How has he managed that. Incredible.

How come he isn't still playing for Holland?

Everyone's entitled to an opinion, and though you're right that it's 'up to individuals' what they do, booing your own players makes you a thick cunt. It also leaves you open to a smack in the mouth, not that I'd ever condone that, but as mentioned, it's up to individuals what they choose to do.

Well before this poor Dutch team (I assume you are deleting caps of all Dutch players on the basis of their overall performance - including Robben?). Strange how you decide who he would and wouldn't have played for over the past 5 years. But I suppose you know what every other manager in the Premier League thinks.

I still believe that the general booing at that point was for the back-pass and the breakdown of another attack - not directly aimed at Pieters?
Same as with the Glen Johnson sub a few weeks ago - surely the ironic cheers were for the much needed change that needed to be made rather than a personal attack on GJ?
