But Satdee will be a game when we are largely on the attack and Bournemouth will be sat back. Hold up play will be less part of the game. More likely we'll need a Paolo Rossi type jack in the box striker who can play in a busy box and sniff chances from loose balls out. That is until we score and go in front, then what? Then it's easier to attack as Bourno will be unable to park the bus thus leaving gaps for Allo to exploit if he's back and if forwards play off him and provide passung options we can create chances without being reduced to the artless lottery of the long ball game.

I’d still take a £1 mil cb like woodgate with desire from the championship wanting to earn their place versus a foreign £18 mil Spurs reject. Irrespective of the money those two cbs mentioned actually could do the basics for way less even if you calculated the difference in money that football had then versus now. Not quite with you there Woodgate was very poor for us. He did not play in the Championship until after he left us. 1998 - 2002 Leeds United PL 2002 - 2004 Newcastle United PL 2004 - 2006 Real Madrid LL 2006 - 2007 Middlesborough 2007 - 2011 Spurs 2011 - 2012 Stoke City 17 appearances pay-as-you-play deal? 2012 - 2016 Middlesborough I was referring to the price he cost, then, the amount he cost us in his stint in the PL with us as a pay-to-play was around £1 mil. He was worth almost £4mil if I remember if not on a free. It clearly wasn't in the championship. You can't find many decent cheaper youth £1 mil defenders in the PL these days, you can find some with desire better than wimper for £1 mil "from the championship" though.

Yes, but he didn’t persist with a back three with no fullbacks or young wingbacks in his sides for a season and never left a side depending on a weak as piss clubfooted defender. He always had coverage in his sides especially the defence, three players deep for positions at times. The ineptitude of Hughes being a stubborn idiot grows each week and there is no blaming the previous manager five years in. Club footed defender? Who signed and played Danny Collins and Woodgate??? who played huth and Ryan at right back, mental.

Three clean sheets in the last 18 league games. I hope we turn that stat around.

I’d go
Butland Cameron Zouma Indi Diouf Allen Fletcher Pieters Shaq Berahino Choupo
Prefer Diouf up top but unfortunately he’s our best RWB option at the moment.

This seems to me to be the most important game of the season so far, more so than the Southampton game. It is a "must win" to maintain a lot of wavering supporters on side. (I appreciate their are a lot of posters on Oatcake, who have to complain and moan whatever happens.)
I hope Hughes keeps faith with Edwards and gives him a freer role as RWB, reverts to 3 at the back, hopefully with Ryan back.
Butland Zouma Shawcross Indi Edwards Allen Fletcher Peiters Shaq Diouf Choupo

Doesn't sound like Edwards will be fit (and it'd be a major surprise if Shawcross was anywhere near either). Wimmer needs a break.
Butland Cameron-Zouma-BMI-Pieters Allen-Fletcher Choupo-Shaq-Sobhi Diouf
I've got no great faith in Sobhi's recent form, but can't really see how you can pick Jese on form either.
And we've got to get Diouf up top.
If he goes 3-at-the-back (which he probably will)
I'd go:
Butland Zouma-BMI-Pieters Cameron-Allen-Fletcher-Sobhi Shaq-Choupo Diouf

Corner's been filled in though! P.S. I hope a few of our players fill a few of those cheats in! Craftily though, so as not to get sent off!

Hughes says they're "hopeful on a couple of fronts" regarding injured players.
So maybe Shawcross will be available?

Now a must win for oh so many reasons ! Ah, only 14 replies before the inevitable 'must win' comment. Why is it 'must win'? Will we go down if we don't? Will Hughes be sacked? Curious. well they are 2nd bottom, one of the few sides below us. They're yet to pick up a point away from home. So yeah it's close to a 'must win'

The reason is simple. The second half of last season's game! We must win because of that!

Butland Zouma Cameron BMI Diouf Fletcher Allen Pieters Shaqiri Jesse Choupa
Something horrible about Bournemouth. Media darlings, can play football but the worst sort of cheats - snide and cowardly.
If we score early we could have a pretty comfy win. Concede and it could be horrible,
Stoke being Stoke I suspect a loss if only to get provide some roadkill for the Oatcake ghouls and zombies in time for Halloween.

We better or going to be questionable insight into Hughes ability to manage as there is for his ability to select and setup a defence. It's an interesting one Tex. I don't know what they teach them at footie management school & im not sure that there have been rainforests of paper written on it like other management guru type books, but he does need to learn a plan B & C 🎓
