I hate to be in a position of "I told you"....but many posters begged Hughes to steer clear of Berahino for various reasons from being a one season wonder to having baggage that increased once he was signed. Hughes probably doesn’t consult the Oatcake before splashing out £12m but a few dozen or more on here were not wrong. If the internet was around during the days of Mike Sheron and Mark Stein people would have said the same though? Managers have big egos and always think they can be the person to "change" a player or to resurrect his career, it happens all the time. The risk was obvious, the reward was a natural goalscorers who was relatively young with potential to increase in value. Some you win some you lose, if he gets no game time between now and January the only conceivable option is to send him out on loan to a Championship team and hope he rebuilds his confidence in readiness for next season...... That’s a very good point but risking £12m? Perhaps 2 or 3 million yes but splashing 4-6 times this is crazy.

Even the manager of the selling club advised us to steer clear, Mark and his team of course knew better Have you got a link to this quote Pulis is supposed to have made? Has he fuck. As usual he's plucked it out if his arse which is coincidentally where he talks from usually and keeps his one brain cell. H

You've missed the point Dave. I'm saying it MUST of been Hughes wanting Berahino and solely Hughes, Hughes chased for him 18 months, not Pulis when he was in charge at stoke, so it wasn't like it was Bowen after him, or Cartwright, because if it was, we would of chased him under TP Why would we have chased him under Pulis when he was basically a West Brom Academy Player at the time. I don't even know what your point is. What's Pulis got to do with any of this? I'm, saying it has to be hughes that has chased him - someone mentioned about bowen and cartwright above so just stating it had to be all down to Hughes

One thing is for sure.......the Berahino signing was certainly no surprise........we'd been after him from at least the previous summer window.

Hughes seems to have adopted a desperation stakes kind of thinking and its badly affecting the decisions he's making.

My missus,s sisters cleaner has a brother who's missus serves Bovril in the cafe at West Brom and she said TP was on the phone between Bovril sips to Hughes warning him to stay clear and that Saido was a drug-taking, drink driving alcoholic, troublemaking one season wonder who couldn't hit a cows arse with a giant banjo . But, what to do with Berahino? Gonna be a loss of £12m-£15m or sell him on the cheap (if anyone would take him) or, loan him out to Championship or League 1 to see if he recaptures any sort of form. Trouble with that is if he cant do it in lower leagues, his value falls even further. Hey Ho
