Fucking murder tonight. Completely closed south between 27 and 26 and had been since I left Glasgow at 4. Even slept for an hour at Lancaster services but it was still shut after 8. Ended up stopping in a subway for tea...

The sooner Congleton gets this bypass the better any glimpse of trouble on the M6 near here it's murder, i work down by Seimens and if there's trouble you can't get out, normally takes me 25 mins to get to Kidsgrove from work normally if trouble it takes that just to get to the lights on Rood hill.

Sometimes I gamble on the M6 for my commute from Congleton to Altrincham if I'm out of the house before 7.15. Even at that time though it can take 20 minutes to get from Buglawton to the Holmes Chapel road, and even if I'm at the Knutsford junction by 7. 45 it can take 10 minutes to get onto the new Mere bypass dual carriageway. It's a shame for anyone living in Eaton or Hulme Walfield, but Congleton desperately needs the bypass.

Same with Northwich and the surrounding villages, we still have a single lane bridge with traffic lights on the main A533 (which crosses the A49) Runcorn to Northwich, it is chaos for miles around.

Surely this started well before December 2015!!! Are they giving the start date of when they started on 16 to 17 because this was well after 17 to 19?

Just back from Manchester after dropping my daughter off. Between 19 and 18 a Palletline truck going ape across the two lanes because he can't get past a transit in the middle lane who's doing 50. He gets out into the outside lane and comes back into the middle lane because he still can't get past. Eventually sees his chance and gets back into the outside lane and overtakes the transit at well over 50. An accident waiting to happen.

I know the police don't investigate most accidents to the extent they used to and nor should they with other priorities. However, I think any accident on a major motorway or A road that causes significant delay should be investigated and where possible a positive obligation placed on prosecuting the twats who cause the accident. Of course there are occasions through mechanical failure (blow outs etc) but most accidents will be through speed or just careless or shit driving. When this is the case driver penalties should be doubled .....id love to see convicted drivers fined £5k per hour of delay they caused perhaps. Maybe if drivers knew this was a consequence of the manner of their driving they might pay a bit more attention on motorways. I just get so pissed off stuck in queues and then you find out shit driving is the cause.

Does anybody know where that awful smell on a section before (heading Southbound) Stafford services is coming from?
Smelly M6! It seems to be getting worse.

I drove up the M6 to Liverpool last week and south bound was bumper to bumper from 17-20.
And the amount of HGV's trying to overtake each other was crazy.

It's got so bad on the M62 / M6 now that when I come down from Leeds to Stafford to see my old mum and dad, I've taken to going 'over the top' via Penistone, Glossop, Buxton, Leek, and Stone. It adds at least an hour onto the journey as compared to the motorway route (when that's free-flowing), but on a nice day you do get the benefit of some of the best scenery in England.

Congleton is a joke, I now avoid going back to baddeley green every night through the centre, I go across biddulph moor, and I get a great view the whole way

Been to Italy twice in the last couple of years. Two lane motorways working perfectly. Can't keep three lanes going over here. Useless!

what a twat again today, shut for fookin hours, at least we got warning at about Northampton on the M1 that it's shut, ended up via Telford outskirts as the A41 was also blocked. A49 queuing North from just after Tarpoley towards the M56 so ended up getting home via Delamere forest and a few of the back lanes.
