Good assessment, Phil, but 6 is a bit harsh IMHO. Looking at it compared to how we ended last season, and seeing how we have performed so far, I give Les a bit more generous 7.5 for his transfer business and new formation, which must go hand in hand. You can never get all you want in a window at our level, but we have made progress. I think if it was down to Les we'd have a striker, CM and RWB unfortunately TS couldn't get them over the line.

If we made all our signing on deadline day and jese got over the line at 22:59, everyone would be wanking and saying 10. Stop falling in the sky sports hype

3 - better defence, which wasn't our biggest problem, midfield bit of a muchness, and forwards not improved at all. I'm assuming the deals we were after didn't come off. Can't believe the transfer team believed everything was OK. Defence not our biggest problem? How many 4 goal drubbings was there? Overall our defence was average for the Pl, attacking wise less than average.

5 from me. Last season we were... a)Awful at the back b)Lacked creativity in midfield and c) Toothless in attack After the window we are a)Strong at the back b) Lack creativity in midfield and c) Unproven in attack with all players hardly prolific in goals. Expect to see lots of Charlie and Crouchy this season. Bizarrely I am a tad jealous of the window in Smethwick Sadly the squad as it stands doesn't look like top ten to me which is the ambition of the club.

5 from me, overall don't think the teams much stronger than last season. May not concede as many goals but the 4 nil drubbings maybe replaced by close 1 - 0 defeats. Scoring goals still going to be a problem.

Could've done with a wingback or 2 but pretty happy overall
Why are people assuming we're going to create nothing? 2 of our starting front 3 have been in the country for a month and we've played Arsenal and a Tony Pulis team, winning and drawing against them
Give them a chance at least

Wimmer has said he's perfectly comfortable playing left wing back. Got a link mate? Robbie Earle reckons he's not a wing-back.

- lacking creativity - lacking goals - no midfield cover - no rwb - around the bottom of the net spenders again - we've just recovered from previously shit windows - allowing players to go without replacement - we've "stood still" at best

In two parts for me 5/5 points for getting rid of deadwood and I think a 4/5 for that.
Defense Midfield & Strikers 5/5 I think you have to give a 4/5 for that
So overall 8/10 and yes lets wait and see how it all comes together. Not sure Jenson would have added that much - Delph would have made it a 9/10 for me - and I've been through many many transfer August windows
Well done Hughes, Coates & family for supporting the financial side - probablt the best window we've had in the Prem

My feelings are: - Shifted a lot of deadwood - Much improved central defence - still missing quality wing backs - midfield still needs further improvement - still need a proper striker - Jese and Choupo seem good signings but time will tell - very concerned where the goals will come from 6 to 6.5 /10 IMO Get of the fence man...is it 6 or 6.5?😀

Needed a starting striker with a goals pedigree and a ball winning mid fielder.
Solid deals in defence.
Keepers are good
Outgoings 8/10
Goals win games so Incoming 5/10

Let's see in a few weeks - we'll have a better idea.
I'd say 7.5 for now.
I was hoping for someone like Trippier, but maybe Glen Johnson can make a comeback. Given the new signings it was a risk to let Walters go. I'm also disappointed Bojan has gone for the whole season. Other than that, things are looking up.

A solid 6.. The defence is well improved, we've got rid of alot of dead wood, jury is out on our new front guys though. We needed two decent wing backs and a striker to make it a super window. But failed other than defence i dont think we've progressed to be fair. Its already shouting out lack of goals

*incomings* Wimmer Indi Fletcher Tymon Jese (loan) Eric Zouma (loan) *Outgoings* Bojan (loan) Imbula (loan) Muni (loan) Wolly Arni Walters Bards Telford (loan) Sweeney (loan) Whelan Joselu + got rid of a lot of the old guard. + big reduction in wages. + Fletcher already looks a terrific signing + some great CBs on the books + Zouma looks great could be utilised in CM + Good loans for Telford and Sweeney. + Taken the age of the squad down. + Chance for Sobhi, Edwards, Tymon, Verlinden and NGoy to shine. + Balanced the books. + Indi a snip + Squad has quality over quantity. - We will still have the same problems at the start of next season with the loss of Zouma and Jese and the return of Imbula and Bojan. - The window has a feeling of trying to do things on the cheap. - Our midfield has no depth. An injury and we're down to Adam and Cameron. - We don't have a goalscorer. - No proper wing backs. - A lot of gambles and risks that might / might not pay off in attack. So to summarise. I think it'll be binary football all the way. Some great defenders but no real goals in the side. Some good buys but lots of issues (WBs, CFs and CM) not addressed. It's a 6/10 from me. I think the absence of a recognised goalscorer is a major, major problem. However Hughes could still get his calls right before the bell strikes at midnight. It really doesnt look likely, but he's been quiet all day long, which could mean he's really busy. As for Zouma I am at this point not as concerned as earlier. He's not really wanted at Chelsea, or they would have kept him.. Conte has bought a new central defender and has recalled another. He still has three other centrebacks from a League winning team plus a multitude of academy players out on loan. With the tantrums Conte has thrown at Chelsea over the perceived lack of transfer activity, I wouldnt put it beyond them to buy yet another defender in the winter window. On the other hand we can't afford/are unwilling to buy his fee, but we could ask Chelsea to extend the loan for a further season beyond the current. There is previous for this at Chelsea. Jese looks a great player but I will reserve judgment until I have seen during the winter. Who knows we might be relieved in May that we didn't waste more money on him.

Wimmer has said he's perfectly comfortable playing left wing back. When? I've seen him say left back but not LWB. Read it somewhere on the 41 page Wimmer signed thread, in a link to his official signing, in the context of a question about competition at the back. Had a quick look but not prepared to trawl through the lot. In the modern game {and for us at the moment}, whether he can play left back is largely irrelevant. I'm sure I read {not heard} lwb. We'll see. Window not shut, if it does and it stays as is, I'm not concerned about the wing back positions, Diouf and Ramadan have both scored from there already, Pieters is looking reinvigorated, Tymon grazed the bar... etc etc. I still think Afellay would be a mint wb converted from a winger, with some defensive mid experience for us, far more tenacious in a tackle than I expected, if he's recovered. Got a pool of six/seven wb's with a mix of experienced players {if not in that particular role} and yoof. Don't know enough about Choupo, Zouma either. It's a newish phenomena in the Prem, most exponents of it are converted. I'd much rather believe that quality footballers can develop into different roles, rather than the fixed position principle.
