PULIS ON WIMMER
Tony Pulis has played down reports that Kevin Wimmer is close to joining West Brom from Tottenham.
He said: "Whoever's telling you we are close, is miles away from that fact. We have a lot of irons in the fire with a lot of targets."

www.skysports.com/transfer-centreBAGGIES IN FOR WIMMER
West Bromwich Albion's bosses have sanctioned the purchase of Tottenham defender Kevin Wimmer for a fee of £15m, Sky Sources understand, and it's now Tony Pulis' call on whether to go ahead with the deal. The head coach will decide over the next couple of days whether to spend a big chunk of his transfer kitty on the Austrian defender, or divert his funds elsewhere. Mauricio Pochettino will allow Wimmer to leave Spurs because of the imminent arrival of Davinson Sanchez from Ajax. It is also understood that, even if the Wimmer deal goes through, Albion will still fight to keep Jonny Evans - they rejected an £18m bid from Manchester City last week, but Pulis told Sky Sports News on Friday: "It's crazy to think a club like Albion could turn down a bid if an enormous amount of money is put in front of you."

www.skysports.com/transfer-centre15.09 STOKE WANT WIMMERWe understand Stoke City manager Mark Hughes is still keen to sign Tottenham defender Kevin Wimmer. West Brom remain favourites to sign the Austrian international, who is available after Spurs landed Colombian international Davinson Sanchez from Ajax.

Are we delaying the Wolly sale until we get a new CB in? (or will we just be grateful to get him off the wage bill?)
And who would Wimmer choose in a head-to-head between WBA and Stoke?
At Stoke, he's got Shawcross, Zouma &Cameron to compete with At WBA, he's got Evans (for the moment), the new Egyptian loanee, Dawson and Macauley.
He also apparently does not enjoy playing left-back and would be joining a manager who'll probably play him there.... eventually. And wouldn't imagine playing in a very regimented Pulis system is for everyone, especially if you consider yourself a bit of a ball player?
Would it come down pretty much to where he'd see himself getting the more regular minutes? West Brom certainly could not blow us out of the water. They are just as frugal now as they were under Jeremy Peace.
Putting £15m down for another centre-half would certainly be an interesting choice from us though?

If he wanted guarantees football, he wouldn't come here. Yep - bit of an oversight on Indi there! But Cameron would maybe be used at RWB and midfield at some point - so could definitely see the attraction of another CB in - but the confusion is that the supposed interest is in such a front-line player who'd cost big money, big wages and have such big expectations of being a regular.

Albion will sell Evans for a nicely inflated fee. He's a left footer and so is Wimmer. The Egyptian lad sounds like he's hit the deck running and with Dawson and Macauley in reserve, this is why Pulis is nibbling. Wimmer much younger than Evans. I think they'll ask Citeh for £20 million plus.

If the reports are true that Pulis is delaying pushing ahead with the Wimmer deal as he's weighing up a bid for Sakho, then surely it won't fill Wimmer full of confidence with regards to his potential worth to his prospective manager?

I still maintain this to be very strange. If not Engels, it would be better for us to sign someone of his age and profile rather than someone else who will expect to start from the get go.

If all 3 clubs really do have an interest, all things being equal, the dreaded London factor would maybe give Palace the edge.

I don't want Wimmer. Whenever I've seen him for Spurs he's a liability, looks a bit overweight and on top of that, will almost certainly demand to be first choice. Nah, stay clear.
