Was at the game Everton were all huff and puff with no quality Stoke were great apart really from where it mattered. Much cripser and secure passing. Need a bit more from Shaq and Bo but I was generally impressed with their creativity. I like this formation but we need a striker that works with it and can win headers/hold the ball. We'll be far better with that strikee. Saido just doesn't seem to offer that much atm that we need NB - considering the expectation and spending, sthe crowd at Goodison were fucking shit from start to finish. Edit: fucking hell Zouma is a beast So we should be looking at benteke then?

Pretty much sums the game up, we looked pretty solid at the back which is a massive improvement in itself compared to last season AND we still have big Bruno to get involved next week We need a left wingback at least and to play Joselu, I'm more optimistic now even though we lost We lost 1-0 at Everton last season too. We never looked like scoring. Another losing start to the season. Same manager same problems Despite some strange decisions the last 18 months the problems (and i havent always said this) the problems are not with Sparky. Which way do you want to go Mr Coates ?

Perhaps I am being negative. The reason is because I have totally lost patience with the manager. I am not feeling negative about the club. My own thoughts are that another manager might get a lot more from our players. In my opinion hughes is tactically inept. There were no indications today that Hughes will be a better manager this season. Again, I felt we were playing a poor side today. Our lack of any sort of fucking strategy to score a single solitary fucking goal has cost us a soft defeat. When you lose and the other team only had one chance in the game you have to look at yourselves. Poor. Very poor To be honest I can see peoples frustrations but its the first game and we look fitter and stronger, we have some cracking players, we just need to add some steel up front and we will be fine Measured View sir

The problem is we have some spineless fuckers that follow Stoke, and they can not wait to jump on anything negative, I watched the game on tinternet today and for me the positives far outweighed the negatives! I was disappointed but fairly positive leaving the ground but social media has disappointed me more than the defeat You know what wayne, I think if you detatch yourself from this message board you see things in a different light, I have and it works, Today we were not that bad, created very little but were far better than this board gives credit, Everton having spent a kings ransom only just scraped a win with a player who costs an absolute fortune, we are not that far off a very good side, I just wish the spineless idiots could see this

Before the wrist slashers turn up: 1. Zoumzy. Motm. 2. Fletcher excellent. 3. Choupo. 4. We didn't deserve to lose. 5. Not 4-0. Negatives: 1. Bera. Time to drop him. 2. Poor on the goal. Their best player was Neil Swarbrick. Onwards and upwards. couldnt of been put any better

I don't disagree mate, but he's responsible for tactics for one, and when it comes to transfers, the deals he has got over the line haven't generally been enormous successes or really seemed to fit how he wants to play?

As conceeded before bud his tactics has been poor last 18 months, He doesnt get the deals over the line that is the pizza boys after Sparkry but ultimately the buck stops with Coates and whatever his and kids plans are We essentialy agree bro !

It's more that when he does get the deal over the line he doesn't seem to know what to do with the player as much as anything for me mate. We need to back him as he's staying but I don't have a huge amount of faith in him identifying the players we need.

Maybe something drastic needed for berahino like a 1/2 season loan out to a championship club That is what I`m thinking also, but then we need two strikers in if Joselu is sold.

Hughes and the management deserve a shout for the great job in the offseason of shoring up last season's poor defense. We may feel different after next weekend, but for today we looked a different side, incredibly solid at the back. Adding Zouma, BMI, and Fletcher was just fantastic business and vision, and the price of transfer dealings was shrewd indeed.
While there is a long season of ups and downs ahead of us, I, for one, will stand up and recognize the transfer dealings this management made appear to be the right ones.
If we invest and bring in the right striker, this team will be in a good position to fight for the 8 spot. Eric looked fantastic for 24 minutes too.

Another way to think about it.
Suppose that on Thursday, the day before the first Premier League game, you looked at the fixtures for Friday and Saturday. You were told that of the 16 teams playing, 6 teams would concede 3 or more goals. Another would almost throw away a 0-3 lead against 9 men.
How many of you would have bet that Stoke, playing away against Everton, would not be among them?

Just don't see where Saido will fit in the team in this system.
Why chase him for year on year year then hang him out to dry

Positive - we only let in 1 goal.
Negative - we still wouldn't have scored if we were still playing now.
Mixed - 4 players away from a very decent side, 2 wing backs, no.10 and no.9. Sadly we won't get them.
