The usual constructive thread; the majority calling for the manager to be sacked (some time) but no one suggesting who should replace him.
Stop and think about it. If you were Coates, who would you go and get to replace him who you know would come to Stoke?
You can forget all the present and ex CL managers, they would not want to come to Stoke. You can also forget those promising young managers; they don't want to manage Stoke, they want to manage a CL side, or a high profile club looking to throw loads of money about. Would Coates take a chance on an unproven manager from another league. That leaves the likes of Moyes, Hodgson, Pardew, etc. Sam's retired. Those are the type Coates goes for. Would you honestly rate any of them better than Hughes, who's 13th place last season was his first full season that his team has not finished in the top ten, and were only 2 points off 8th place?
I have yet to see one sensible suggestion for a new manager. Just names of people who would never come to a small club like Stoke or names like Rogers, who I can still see in my mind's eye watching his Liverpool team thrashed 6-1 after he had spent £250m on it!
I have no doubt Coates is employing the best head-hunters for his management team, in case anyone suddenly leaves for any reason. All companies have management succession plans.

Can you also see in your mind's eye him being one of the few Liverpool managers in the last 25 years to mount a genuine title challenge? If Coates is employing the best head-hunters for his management team, why can we only hope for a Moyes or a Hodgson? Isn't that rather contradictory?

I am not calling for him to be sacked......I couldn't give two flying fucks if he stays or goes to be honest I just do not want to go down to the championship again, It was not my call or decision to replace Pulis either but replaced he was, allegedly MH was to take us to the next level where ever the club thought that was...... sorry but last year was as boring if not more boring than under Pulis..... He either does A - what he was bought in to do or it was a waste of time bringing him here or B - we sack him and move on again to find a replacement to take the club to the next level.... and for me the next level is what we have but with more entertainment thrown in at the home games.....I don't want a different destination just a different journey to get there.

To be fair he did do that in his first two seasons, so it's not like it's been a complete disaster and why did we ever make the change. He did take us to a higher level, and there was more entertainment. He's lost the plot like his predecessor did and can consider himself lucky to still be in a job. He's staying for now though so there's not a lot we can do but hope for the best.

Up to scholes to bring the right players in. It Seems we are set up well with the players we have. Scholes can sod off if he can't bring in the right players under the right deals. Hardly Hughes fault. Will Hughes stay if he not happy with restrictions from the management? It's up to Hughes to identify the right players or types of players he wants.

I won't judge Hughes until after 6 games. Last season was crap. We won 2 from 11 in the run in. He's done nothing to address it. We lost to SheffU and losing to Bolton. Not to mention we've been dire since the league cup semi. He should have gone months ago, probably this time last year.

I think Joselu knocking a couple in has given him a a massive headache
I am pissing my sides as to the inevitable outcome already
i.e. Joselu cost £5m - and has been discarded to the fringe
Whilst the three times more expensive and, completely and utterly useless - (in front of Goal) , Berahino
will inevitably be selected to start away at Everton
and - you just know - it will be this way
And when - not if - it happens, just another reason Why 'the welsh idiot's' time --- is up

I just had a thought, perhaps Coates is saving his money for a new manager. Come December he may have to fork out for a new manager and back him with a couple of key signings. He missed December opting for the second week in January but you were bloody close
