If we start badly, I think the crowd will be after him from the get go. The patience went last season. If we start shit yet again he should walk. I'm predicting the same chopping and changing. He's never known his best team/formation.

I just had a thought, perhaps Coates is saving his money for a new manager. Come December he may have to fork out for a new manager and back him with a couple of key signings.

He has lost the plot and totally fooled the entire coates family into thinking he is still competent and still has cards to play when, he has none

I don't buy the argument that's we've got a tough start, we've been in the league a bastard decade now, we aren't the underdogs anymore. It might make us get our shit together quicker than usual as well.

Coates will give him 13 more games than you have. Before he even starts to think about a replacement. 19 games? That will take us to late December, specifically West Brom at home. So, what happens if we are rock bottom, which is 100% a possibility. Then what? We sack Hughes. As the new manager got enough time to improve the squad? Rescue us? 19 games is suicidal. Isnt every position 100% a possibility?

If he loses the crowd he will lose Coates soon enough. I think a good number in the crowd have been lost already mind. There is no margin for error. It worries me how lacksidasic people are about our situation. We're not a very good football team.

Hughes lost my trust last season I'm afraid and I wanted him gone c.6 games from the end - he can re-earn it of course and I would welcome it although I'm not seeing much to inspire thus far - again, happy to have it shoved down my throat as it will mean we are doing well......see what transpires....

Until about the 8th or 10th game. Until the transfer window dust settles. Until I see our formation and line up. Until then, there is only hope and faith. Anything less is disrespectful to those paid to do their jobs. Those who until now, have done an overall pretty good job. Let's just see where we end up. Dry knickers are a benefit. Some of you need to wring them out and hang them on the washing line. Shaq, Allen, Imbula, Berahino are not bargain bucket. Buying round pegs for square holes is the balls up. No strategy, no plan, no clue. Have a strategy then even if you buy cheaper players, you make the system work then over time you can upgrade each position. But we have no system. No plan.
Cough ...

There seems to be a lot of this. I guess it's admirable but that's pretty much all blind faith is. There is nothing to suggest that anything is going to get better soon. And it's not like it's a little blip we've got to overcome. It's 18 months of playing rotten football and 2 years of having no plan in the transfer market. It started with replacing the heartbeat of our side with a shite loanee from Chelsea. It could end there to*. *Zouma will be good under Big Sam from November!

That wasn't really to do with my point I was making but rather it was more to do with message board etiquette ...
There was oldstoke just 12 weeks ago giving it the full on (as he calls it) 'knicker wetting' but now he thinks he can play to the board in the here and now, in the hope that people might have forgotten what he was saying just a few weeks ago and accuse people of doing exactly what he was doing as the last season came to an end.
Absolutely total respect for his opinion at the time but then don't starting having a pop at people for doing the same thing he was doing just a few short weeks later.
Erm, nah ...

I'm sticking with my position. The end of season venting has subsided. You always have backed Hughes everytime we spoke over the past couple years. I think its fair to say everyone is frustrated but some are giving Hughes more time to turn it round again. It's going to be a very tough season and we need to back the manager and players. Creating a toxic atmosphere towards our own if we lose at home to Arsenal won't help anything IMO

No problem, everybody is absolutely entitled to have a change of heart but don't you think your present dig at people who are holding exactly the same views that you were holding just a couple of months ago, seems incredibly rich, in fact, actually a tad bit stinky?
I'd be sloping off quietly, rather than giving it large ... but hey, that's just me.

After some hindsight... I don't need your permission to state my position. Most folks should have calmed down after the season ended. But we have the same few usual suspects spouting their endless miserable agenda driven whining bollocks day after day. So tiresome it's beyond old. We wanted the old guard gone, and some have been jettisoned. Progress? The Johnson thing...I still shake my head. I wasn't expecting the Arnold thing, But fuck that asshole, life goes on. And until proven wrong, I trust. In terms of new guardians for our club NOBODY has still, after all this time, yet mentioned anyone who could reasonably do better and who would come here. I still claim Mancini as a name if we want to progress, but so be it - Sir Peter - not myself - hold the cards and the pocket book strings. And so that's where I stand. No agenda. Just being a supporter. Calmer with hindsight and a bit more optimistic. Probably wrongly, but we'll see where the chips fall.

Quietly confident that Uncle Pete will unleash the dong and fill a few of the gaps that remain before the end of the transfer window. Big season for Shaq, massive opportunity for Ramadan to step out of the shadow of that Austrian cunt-stick that I used to adore. A chance of a Christ-like resurrection and second coming for Bojan. Jack is back and that alone is worth a few extra points. A few of the pensioners out of the door and an opportunity for a few youngsters to stake a claim. Not convinced by Berahino, but a full pre-season might prove me wrong. Zouma looks like exactly what we needed, and I still think there's a decent chance of a BMI return.
Most of all, a chance for MH to correct course and steer us back in the right direction. Concerns? Of course, but nothing like the absolute relentless gushing of piss that's wetting the knickers of the usual suspects.
As OldStoke said, faith is the key. It may well be gone after 10 games, but for now, a new season awaits and renewed optimism is the order of the day.

I don't see how we can trust in a man that has had since January 2016 to fix blatant problems. Not little ones, obvious to everyone big ones. He's shown no sign of fixing them so far this summer. I think we'll struggle and end up sacking him fairly early doors
