We are alphabetically 15th in the table before a game is played. With the business we've done so far would you take 15th now?

Right now, with the squad we have at our disposal, a big fat yes.

With the business done so far, yes.
But I also think we are long way from being done this transfer window so expect better.

We're better than 15th and will show that. I expect a comfortable mid table finish. Hopefully higher

I would take 17th now with the squad as it is. But can see it being worse than that if quality players are not bought in.

As a neutral, I think a top 10 finish, maybe even a top 12 finish, is unrealistic for you based transfer activity up to now. 15th is about right.
Look at your mid-table competitors. Palace and West Ham have strengthened a lot. West Brom will be somewhere between 10th and 14th because that's what Pulis does.
Southampton seem to not have had a good window. Newcastle seem to have had a shitty window, and I can see them struggling more than I expected a month ago. Brighton have had a shitty window too. Huddersfield look like they could be the highest promoted side at this rate. They've spent something like £40 million already. I haven't been paying attention to Watford's or Swansea's transactions.

No. This is our 10th season in the big time. That actually makes me think things will get harder. Clubs of Stoke's size and stature rarely make it to 10 years. They almost never make it to 15 years. Blackburn and Bolton lasted 11 years, Fulham 14 years. Stoke have been massively overachieving for the last decade, and that is bound to run out. For midsize and small clubs with extended spells in the top flight, they reach a ceiling, stay there a few years, and wane eventually to relegation. You can see it with all the mid/small clubs that have had successful top tier runs. The three seasons of 9th place were probably the ceiling, and now I think you're in the decline phase. Let's hope it's a gradual decline rather than a fast one.

Yes. Anything above 17th for me.

As it stands I would. BUT a few decent signings would probably change that. With slightly more yes votes in a very small sample it's suggesting we've gone backwards to date from last season.
Benji, what do you think??

This season is our biggest risk so far to me because; We are changing from being one of the biggest net spenders in the last few years to one which spends within their means, We've see more of the old gang go out the door than before and are looking to involve more youngsters in the squad, Fans are becoming more accustomed to mid table security in the premier league, are generally less appreciative and supportive, This is understandable because we don't have an identity at the moment; neither an attacking or defensive team and no local lads unless Edwards plays.
If we get this season right by addressing those issues however we could have a great platform to build from. We need to continue bringing the youth through from the academy, sell off the older players or those with high value if we can reinvest.
I think its going to be a rollercoaster season, fans will generally be disappointed but we'll stay up so I'm not too fussed whether that was 15th, 17th or anything else as long as we do and evolve.

In any division we've been in my years of supporting Stoke I would take 15th at the start of each season nothing's a given and never has been

I would have your arm off for 17th today. However I would rather see what sort of business LMH can do before having any expectations or making any real predictions.

In what way have 'Palace... strengthened a lot'? People are completely over-egging the activity done in the Prem so far, especially by teams around us and below. Some may have done more business, undoubtedly, but plenty of others are struggling to get the deals done that they want. And no, I wouldn't 'take 15th'. There's some pathetically negative shite on this MB at the moment.

After 10 seasons we shouldn't accept this position but given the mood of the club, general hap hazard way things are playing out, and the general apparent lack of a co-ordinated approach 15th would be a good finishing position. Staying up with the current squad would be a success.
It just proves how far we have slipped back.
It's not as if we are penniless!

Depends how good looking she was.=)
I always have the discussion with the Leicester fan in the family (he comes from there) that our goal and Leicesters is to stay in the prem year on year to improve the SQUAD of players we have until such a point is reached that we are safe from relegation. Anything on top of that like cups or Europe is pure bonus. So yes if it gives us more time to improve and distance ourselves fro the horror of relegation.
