I'm angry at Arnie for being a prick.
But honestly, he's no more inconsistent than any other forward. It is just daft and untrue to say he doesnt turn up for large parts of the season. He was consistently our best creative threat, and in my view his only issue was his finishing which was erratic. He even worked hard, I didn't know where the fallacy that he's lazy came from when he was still ours and I still don't now he's gone.
Be pissed off and boo the cunt, but you can't change history, he was absolutely fantastic for us throughout, and he's a player that is at a level above both Stoke and West Ham.

arry, your post amused me as the 1st half of it, I could have written verbatim about PDC at our place. I was in the minority, but he pissed me off more than excited me, exactly as you have described the Austrian. The second half pretty well described Payet, I guess all clubs have their petulant cocks, mercenaries, club men triers, exciting young prospects etc, but they just have different names, same personas. I wouldn't be surprised if our new man Arnie disappoints in time, most at WH do!

Samba, sorry to disappoint you but I didn't go searching for interaction with you. This thread was posted up on one of our sites and so a few of us have taken a peek. I felt the need to correct the "free stadium" accusations and have since found that you're a decent, fair and knowledgeable bunch............apart from yourself that is!

That's a decent post to be fair Upton, here's my view on Arnautovic. Yes he has often been our best player, scored a few great goals and can be a real handful but this isn't every week. He plays well for one or two games then he can't be bothered for the next four or five. For every great moment you see on MOTD there's a few dozen where his lazy, couldn't care less attitude stands out a mile. In many ways I found him a frustrating player to watch. He certainly has ability but fails to use it all the time. I suspect Mark Hughes wouldn't drop him because of his attitude when things don't go Markos way ( wait til he gets subbed off a couple of times and you'll see what I mean ). We have youngsters waiting in the wings who couldn't get game time because of him, which was again frustrating for the fans who wanted to see the exciting Ramadan Sobhi given a run. Undoubtedly, Arnie has talent but to be honest, I found him to be a petulant, spoilt brat with an arrogance I came to dislike and I can only imagine what impact this may have had in the dressing room. As with almost all modern day footballers he is a mercenary, who's head and heart are turned by cash. He stalled on his last contract with us until he realised there were NO other takers. Infact WHU are the only other club to show any real interest since we signed him, despite his brothers claims that he should be playing Champions League football. At a guess, I'd say he will start off really well for you, maybe even have a good season, but he will soon settle down into the player we became accustomed to. There's no sour grapes at our end towards WHU believe me, only towards the player, a player we plucked from relative obscurity, gave a chance to and helped all we could, only to be repaid by contract stalling, then once he had signed he wanted to leave again. In all honesty, I think most of us are happy with the deal now the initial Arnie anger has subsided. The 20 odd million profit is a tidy sweetener and we now have the promising Sobhi to look forward to, happy days as far as I'm concerned. Good luck with him.... come back in two seasons time and give us you're thoughts ! Very honest and accurate post. It will be interesting to see how it turns out for him,but for now thanks for the cash it might come in very handy!

I think they've made some decebt signings and it's their money.
I'd have Hernandez in a flash and I'd keep Arnie. Zabaletta has plenty of experience. Harts struggling a bit but he's obviously a good keeper, it will be interesting to see how he starts. If he makes a couple of errors in the first few games then the press will "hammer" him and he will be under close scrutiny.
I do think the weakest link is the owners. When you bring in a few players they do need a bit of time to settle. Will They give Bilic the time of he doesn't get off to a good start?

Personally don't rate West Hams business tbh, they have improved the squad. Whilst I rate Hernandez I'm not sure on the others, Zabaletta isnt anywhere near the level he was years gone by, Hart is washed up and has been full of clangers at City, Torino and England these past 2 or 3 seasons and is living on his name/past rep. I also think arnatovic is a good player but like Mirallas with us only seems to turn it in 1 of every 4 or 5 games.
Whilst anyone can finish anywhere I think as an average you have:
Top 6
7th Everton (especially if we sign Siggurdsson and a CF like Giroud/Benteke.
8-12th Southampton, Leicester, West Ham and Stoke and West Brom.
Will be interesting to see that little battle in that group, Personally I think Southampton and Leicester will fall away this coming season.

Obviously Everton move in different circles now so I understand your viewpoint. You have done some decent business also. I hope you finish above Liverpool!

Fellas, I understand that you are feeling a little sore towards us cheeky East End chappies for pinching your best player, while we hope that he becomes a star turn, of course you will be hoping that he has a career ending injury on his debut, that is the way of the football supporting world, we wished the same on Payet.
I also understand that you are not too enamoured with our owners, guess what, neither are we!
You also seem to have a bit of anger and dislike for our marvellous and unique football club, I have to let you know, that we don't like your mob too much either, but don't be too flattered or offended, we don't like any other club, again common football supporter mentality.
However, the reason why I have chosen to register on your site and post is in response to the bullshit accusation that we were gifted a stadium. Of course I would not have expected you to have followed the process as closely as we did and so can I just enlighten you on how we became tenants, but before I do, maybe I should point out, for those of you who didn't travel down for your visit last November, that the place is an absolute kharsi, it is not fit for football and has changed our club for the worse forever. Not expecting any sympathy from you on that, but please understand the following.
The white elephant of an athletics stadium was a massive ego trip by Lord Coe & Co, who flatly refused to consider an alternative use other than athletics for post Olympics at the planning stage, indeed you could argue that we were given the games on the proviso that there would be an athletics legacy. However once the games were secured, it was pretty obvious that there couldn't be a viable ongoing athletics use for the stadium, so the owners of our club understandably saw a geographical opportunity and entered into negotiations to buy the place outright and an agreement was eventually reached. However, then the charming and always helpful Mr Levy of Spurs and Mr Hearns, then of Orient, mounted a legal challenge to the sale to us and that decision was reversed. The stadium then went out to tenant bidders, at which point, surprise surprise, there was only one viable application, ours. How I wish we had told them to stick it at the point in time and figure their own way out a self dug, almighty embarrassing hole!
Now, our owners are a lot of negative things, but stupid they are not, they knew very well that at this point the LLDC were absolutely over a barrel of their own making and Sullivan, Gold and Brady absolutely rogered them senseless and secured an amazing deal, if they hadn't they would have been in dereliction of their duty as West Ham owners/directors. It wasn't West Ham's responsibility to make good the absolute folly of Coe and the others involved in the ludicrous planning process for the stadium.
Now in the unlikely event that the Olympics had been held in Staffordshire, I am sure that your savvy Coates family would have been equally keen and able to rape the owners in the same circumstances.
The problem for us now, and this will thrill you, is that we are stuck with an appalling, atmosphere less bowl, which in "football mode" is an embarrassment and is being filled via a "gentrification" process with polite spectators, to try to turn us into an East End Arsenal, a club which Brady never ceases to spout her admiration for. Never again will you fellas have to think carefully about a visit to WH, those days are left behind at Upton Park and as we are only tenants, thank you Levy & Hearns, we can do naff all about it.
Right now the stadium is in "athletics mode", for the current raspberry games and the world championships next month and the place has had to be "debadged" with all external WH reference for the events. Charming, a real reminder that we are homeless!
So in conclusion, we sold our old cracking little shithole, but it was our beloved little shithole, for an abortion of a venue, it's hideous and again I expect no sympathy, but please get your facts right, it was not a gift to us from the taxpayer, sadly for us, we prevented the country being left with a rust bucket as a embarrassing reminder in the middle or an enormous Olympic Park.
I hope that this clarifies the situation!
He wasn't our best player. He turned up once in a blue moon. Also had one of the most inconsistent shots that I've ever seen. He was our best player. Without him in our side on a saturday we were a far poorer team.

West Ham haven't done anything special this season. Every year since they came up they've gone out and spent big on players and/or combined it with massive wages.
Most of them haven't really worked out that well, West Ham have just been fortunate enough to get their money back or make a small profit on a large number of their relative failures though. West Ham make a big deal of the players they're signing, the marquee that takes them to the next level and then they don't go there. So Marko Arnautovic is last seasons Andre Ayew. Who was the season befores Dimitri Payet, who was preceded by Enner Valencia and before him it was Andy Carroll.
Despite it all, and despite other clubs like Southampton who bang on about their method the reality of the situation never changes. There are teams who can expect to more often than not be competing in the top 6 these days, and there's everyone else where ultimately only a truly bad season is all it takes to unravel the club and everything worked for so far. But we're all 10+ good seasons away from being able to usurp a spot in the top 6.

I think I've been here about 5 years now. Never taken the piss or been an arsehole. I'd like to think I'm more representative of West Ham Fans than the odd dick that comes on here to act a dick. Every club has them - just look at some of the replies to my earlier post.
That's one good thing I like about kumb.com. Usually when a visiting supporter comes on there, if he doesn't play up and he behaves, they are given respect and welcomed, and decent debate can be had. On the other hand, act like a dick, you generally don't last long.
