In light of recent news, are some of you feeling a little more relaxed about our transfer activity? When are some of you going to learn to be patient and accept that Hughes always plays his cards close to his chest? Of course they're not done deals but there's plenty going on behind the scenes. Some of the stuff that I've read on here is embarrassing and I've wondered who some of you actually support. Get a grip and get behind our management team. If you can't do this, I suggest that you follow a different team.

Not improved the side after a poor season, so there isn't anything to get that excited about. But at least we are more or less back to where we startted last season.

It's all well and good judging when the window is shut. But what is wrong with stating intentions early, paying a bit more to get the players in early?
i think a contributing factor to our poor starts in recent season is key players being bought in on or around deadline day when some games have already been played and it takes them a month to get in to the team. BMI and Grant last season, shaq the season before? Perhaps somewhat Naive but being able to take the whole squad which will go through the season together away on a couple of pre season trips has to have massive benefits.

Not really.
Its nice to think we are actually in talks with players like Zouma but until its actually concrete I believe nothing.
I think the BMI deal should of been wrapped up long before this so again, I don't believe nothing until its confirmed.
We've been here before.

The Bruno news is great news, but all it's done is take us back to where we were at the end of the season, when it was clear we still needed half a team.
And that was before the bombshell that our best outfield player wants to leave.

It's tough for clubs like us but recent experience has quite rightly not filled supporters with confidence in our recruitment processes. I suggest you take a glance at a few other club message boards for a bit of perspective on the reaction here.

We are going to be ok don't worry!
Living in Brighton, I follow the news at BHA as well and if you think we are struggling to bring in new blood, take a look at them. They can't seem to get anybody at all on board and currently will be going into next season with pretty much the team that got them promoted. Out of that team there are probably only 4 in the squad who can make the step up.

Has anybody picked up on the fact.... We didn't score goals last season. And we're buying defenders ! A lot of the reason we scored so few goals is that we sacrificed a creative player for legs in the middle to try to make us more solid. It should have been dispensed with once we got our season up and running but we carried it through the whole season. You are right we need to score more goals its the crux of our problem and has been the entire time we've been in this league(we've not broken 50 goals in any season) but that isn't necessarily a personnel problem it has a lot to do with the balance of the side, the tactics employed, game management(we never seem to try to kill teams off). In short new strikers and better creative players would always be nice but we can use what we have to much better effect if we are bolder.

No, gahhhhhhhhhh, we're selling our best players, Arnie first, then it'll be Shaqiri, then it'll be Butland, then it'll be Stein, Greenhoff and Ritchie.

I love watching Arnie but we need to get used to selling players instead of nurturing them into retirement let their legs go on somebody else's pitch.

Nothing more, nothing less with our most effective player almost certain to leave. Forgive me if I don't get the party poppers out!

Stoke are near the back of the line when it comes to transfers just the way it is.
No point knicker wetting in pre season.

Definitely not calm.
We had a poor season and even if Bruno does sign we are still a weaker squad with Walters and ARNIE leaving
Stoke must splash the cash if they want to avoid playing in the championship next season because if they don't . We will end up there

Patience is a virtue mate. Things will look much brighter in the next couple of weeks. I think we all want the same outcome but the overreaction shown by some on here is ridiculous.

We will end up there Losing Walters doesn't weaken us. Gutted Arnie wants out but we have a ready made replacement if we invest what we get for him well we can be better for it. Just hope signing BMI isn't us using the Arnie money before he goes.

Has anybody picked up on the fact.... We didn't score goals last season. And we're buying defenders ! So Hughes is not in talks with attacking players? I'd love to know how you've come to this assumption. This is exactly the point that I was trying to get across in my original post.

I'm all for the leaner younger squad idea but our method of getting there seems all arse about face to me.

If Arnie does leave the need for pace and power becomes even more acute , that is his big challenge along with upping the goal output , I think he can find nice midfielders all day long the rest is still a bit of a worry

We will end up there Personally I think we will but only on the right player, at the right price. We have to trust our management team to make the correct decision. I'm gutted that Arnie seems to be leaving but that's out of our control. It looks like he's going for the money, and if that's the case we have to move on. I think we may get another 4 in but time will tell I suppose.

Hear what you are saying about not improving the side, but I genuinely believe Bruno on a contract will be a better player than Bruno on a loan, it shows commitment from us and also tells him, and indeed the rest of the squad that he is here for the long haul...If you thought he was good last season, watch him next season...

Not really.
Looks like we're about to lose our best player. No idea if/who we're going to replace him with. We've also lost a stalwart of the dressing room.
We've bought in an 18yo prospect and probably a CH who should have been signed up 2 weeks ago.
At the moment I'm not enthused.
