That's part of my point. In some cases it is, in some it isn't, but FLO was saying we need to trust the management to bring in the right players at the right time, and my argument was that the management team hasn't really shown it can do that for quite some time now. It's hard to blindly trust them when they've been getting it wrong for so long, whether that's in deciding Imbula was worth breaking the transfer record for or deciding Joe Allen was our creative muse to play behind the striker. I've got far less qualms with the players they've bought in than the way they've been used and the way the game has been approached in the last 18 months. I think Hughes has become much more cautious and conservative over that period and it certainly hasn't paid dividends in terms of results or league position or indeed entertaining us fans. My point is Alster, that it's immaterial. We can create a time machine and bring in the Brazil 1970 team in its pomp, it means shit all if those in charge of the team don't use them properly. For one reason or another the last few windows have been flops and yet we're being asked to unreservedly trust the transfer team to get it right this time.

If Arnie does leave the need for pace and power becomes even more acute , that is his big challenge along with upping the goal output , I think he can find nice midfielders all day long the rest is still a bit of a worry Where are these nice midfielders you speak of. Allen Affelay Shaq Bojan plenty there

Well how can you trust the transfer team unreservedly if Mark Hughes is part of that transfer team and you don't trust him to use the players at his disposal properly? I don't, I just don't think its that much to do with transfers and more to do with turmoil in his mind.

In light of recent news, are some of you feeling a little more relaxed about our transfer activity? When are some of you going to learn to be patient and accept that Hughes always plays his cards close to his chest? Of course they're not done deals but there's plenty going on behind the scenes. Some of the stuff that I've read on here is embarrassing and I've wondered who some of you actually support. Get a grip and get behind our management team. If you can't do this, I suggest that you follow a different team. One in one out with a player signed who we already had last season. One of our best players clearly unhappy and probably about to leave and you suggest people should be happy or support another club. That's embarrassing the number of fans this board who think that somehow they are a better fan than other people because they have a different view.
Did you miss last season where we were poor, What have we got extra to improve on that?
Now there is still time for new signings but as 20 clubs are chasing Zouma and as others have said we are already playing games where the team should be bonding with Hughes coming up with plans based on the things he sees. I'm not overly impressed with the mess that has been the BMI signing or the bad publicity from Arni and his brother, things could and should have been handled better.
Now lets see if we actually sign someone NEW to improve last years team a couple of defenders for a start and I don't mean freebies or young lads.

Has anybody picked up on the fact.... We didn't score goals last season. And we're buying defenders ! I am probably wrong but I imagine that there are over a thousand posts from last season stating how woeful our defending was as shown by the several games in which we conceded 4 goals. That may be why we are looking at defenders. If MH actually plays someone with some creativity in the no10 position ( not Joe Allen) who knows- maybe Berahino will actually look the part? A replacement for Austria's world class player (not!) would probably be required as MH doesn't seem to trust Ramadan- which may say more about MH than Sobhi!

I'll keep saying it until I'm blue in the face the business we do is not the problem. We don't do enough business. There you go again.

The Bruno news is great news, but all it's done is take us back to where we were at the end of the season, when it was clear we still needed half a team. And that was before the bombshell that our best outfield player wants to leave. Spot on

It would be so much better for everyone if the transfer window was just for the month of June, all done before pre-season.
or get rid of it all together
