Looks like the fixture list could be the final nail in sparky's coffin, as looking at our opening games I don't have us down for a win until Bournemouth at home on October 21st!!

That's the spirit I'd love to remain positive, but we've been beyond shite for the start of the last couple of seasons and there's nothing to suggest this will be any different. Unless we improve dramatically we could be rock bottom ad already adrift after the first 10. Sent from my SM-G928F using proboards

There's plenty of points for us if we have a good window and get our shit together. There's absolutely no reason whatsoever why we couldn't be unbeaten after the first three.

The beginning of the season is the best time to play the majority of the big clubs in my opinion (new signings still trying to settle in etc).
Not to mention you'll notice your players will annoyingly up their game against the big teams (whilst often lowering their game against mid-table or strugglers).

Whilst I am/was/is firmly in the Hughes Out camp I think this is pathetic.
Lets get behind the team, I can actually see 14 Points out of our first 10 games myself
Wins Against
West Brom Newcastle Southampton Bournemouth
Draws Against
Arsenal Manchester United
However if we do start slowly Coates has a massive decision and a massive cheque to write for the next manager of our beloved club!

Some posters are revelling in our horrendous fixture list. Poor form.
Will they will be happy when Pearson takes over?

Really tough first couple of months, followed by Manchester City away as the first fixture in October!
Any win in those first 8 games is almost going to be a bonus.
If I was MH I'd set out to make us hard to beat and let our talented front 3 try to nick something. We can become more expansive as the season and the squad develops.
They must look at the points return they expect from groups of fixtures. I would see 2-3 in August and 2-4 in September. That's only 4-7 points before we go to The Ethiad. That will leave us close to the bottom of the league.
There will be doom and gloom on here, but it has to be put into the context of that opening run of games.
With Jack (or Lee), Shaq and Fletch in the starting 11 we will be better than the opening games last year.

I'm pleased that we've got a seriously tough start as Hughes and his team need to pull their fingers out and get our lot ready to play.If they don't then they'll all be out of work by October.

Another way to think about it is that Stoke always have shit starts, so if you're going to lose the games no matter what, it's better to lose them to teams you wouldn't beat at any point in the season.
I'd be much more concerned about facing the big teams toward the middle or end of the season when Stoke usually find their rhythm.

We have really slow starts under Hughes anyway which is unacceptable but at least the big sides will be out of the way by the time we normally "pick up". As long as we don't concede four goals again and again.

He's absolutely fucked with it isn't he? Nope. If we get a few points and a couple of notable scalps which I hope we do then everyone will start talking European nogger and get carried away If we start poorly then Mr C will state, whilst many call for his head, that we have to be realistic given who we have played so far The style of how we lose probably won't come in to it as it didn't the last 18 months Anyways lets see if our new approach to pre season works and we can get the players in we need ( but I still think they are blind to what we really need). Oh and given how congested it is because of the World Cup one would expect the big boys to not take the domestic cups seriously next season so you never know

Unless TP is in charge you are not guaranteed to win the games you expect and lose the others - there are always surprises. However that is a tough start to the season!
