Yes. Sell Shawcross to anyone who will have him and make Smalling Captain - someone to get into peoples faces when they strolling around (Arnie, Shakiri etc) although Hughes may have brought in Fletcher for that as we have nobody who reads the game on the pitch.

Jones yes. Smalling...I can only recall seeing have one outstanding game (where he did look good) and the rest either barely adequate and a number where he was terrible. If it hadn't come through the ranks at Man Utd I really don't think he would be as highly rated as he is.
If we did get him he'd get my backing and I hope he'd prove me wrong. But not one to lose sleep over if he goes elsewhere.

He didn't come through their academy, originally came through Maidstone's academy then was signed by Fulham and pretty much signed for United straight away after that. For the record if we can't get Bruno then I wouldn't mind signing him, especially for the money quoted.

He wouldn't come here.
But make no mistake, he would improve the centre of our defence massively.

I may be under estimating him and not seen him play enough but when I have I've been seriously underwhelmed. But Centre Backs usually improve with age and happy to be proved wrong if he were to come here. Not sure he would though.

Right now our back line consists of 4 from Johnson, Bardsley, Ryan, Wollschied, Muni, Cam and Erik.........Lets face it only Ryan is up to the job and that's debatable. So yes to Smalling, yes to Jones, yes to the RB from Barca, yes to Tymon, yes to Robertson and yes to anyone else that would improve that sieve of a defence

He was very good under van gaal, finally filling his potential however he's taken a step backwards last season, would like to see him with a point to prove with us.

I think Smalling is the best English central defender when fully fit, but my opinion is obviously not shared by that man Mourinho.

What does that say about Hazard other than I will choose who I play for? Mourinho knows how to win with some diverse teams- does Hazard? No - it says Mourihno can't always get the best out of a very good player. He has one way of working and that's going round lighting fires and sees who can stand the heat. He also said Arnautovic was "unmanageable" when clearly he isn't. Just that Mourihno - supposedly The Special One - couldn't manage him when even our much maligned Mark Hughes clearly can. Yes he gets results short term but usually by spending a kings ransom rather than by coaching - after that he generally leaves under a cloud leaving a trail of destruction and very little in the way of structural or organizational legacy. Conte turned a bunch of Mourihnos underachievers into title winners - by getting the best out of Hazard, turning Aspilacueta into a Ccentral defender, bringing Moses and Alonso into the fold and the addition of Kante - all things that Mourihno would never have done.. Mourihno - despite chucking money at it - finished in a lower league position that in either of Van Gaals two seasons at United and only one place higher than Moyes. Seymour, the "underachievers " inherited by Conte (with the notable exception of Kante" were the team that Mourinho won the league with upon his return to the bridge. While I accept your point that he seems to perhaps motivate by fear I also think players (Hazard being a typical example) are complete mars arses. Having performed brilliantly under Conte, Hazard's immediate reaction to supposed Madrid interest is pretty much come and get me. While that is probably any players preferred option, to me Hazard (good as he is) just comes over as a very very talented spoilt brat.

Has something dodgy gone on with him?
How can you go from being first choice at United to being linked with West Brom for £10 million in a very short period of time?

By any measure, that seems really low. They paid around £8m for him, didn't they? Of course, the whole story could be bollocks as it's in the Star.

Prefer sakho but it's this level we need to be recruiting at .
ps those knocking Ryan need a head wobble one minute they slag off Arnie then when someone gives us there entire career , they show the very attitude they criticise Arnie for you simply can't have it both ways

If he's available at anything like £10m, we'd have to be in there, wouldn't we?
Can't imagine he would be though.

Watching him at the end of last season, particularly in the Europa League, he looked worse than I'd ever seen him before with the ball at his feet. That'll be the main reason he doesn't fit in at the shit anymore.

He wouldn't come here. But make no mistake, he would improve the centre of our defence massively. True and true again. Agree and agree again He gets his body between the player and the ball. Usually it's given as a foul Occasionally it's given as a yellow card And very very rarely is it given as a red Which is exactly what a centre half should do. Just ask john terry, robert huth etc etc
