Interesting one. I was expecting him to go
Pretty much his home town, promoted to top league for first time?
And reports that it's "almost done"?
But how could such a tiny club afford the fee or salary?
He'd have to be really keen to go home to take a wage cut?

He was not a standout but is a decent backup to have in case we need a fill in due to injury. I'd like to keep him but if he goes then so be it.

According to Catalan media, team Gerona (Girona FC) have practically tied to the left side, Marc Muniesa
Doesn't seem that much out there on it, but seems the bloke who tweeted it (Queiros) is considered to be pretty reliable from the responses?

Beautiful city, and they wear red & white stripes. Good luck Muni if true - good player but cannot see him ever holding down a spot here at Stoke...

I was expecting him to leave this summer - my only issue was whether the teams which would want him could afford to pay the transfer fee and wages. I guess we will see on that score.
If he does leave, I feel it increases the chances of Joselu and, especially, Bojan going too.

Good player who could have been very effective in a back three but too injury prone to ever get an extended run, I would like to see him stay but good luck to him if he chooses to go to his home club.

I'd rather we keep him, despite his shortcomings Muni has been a good servant to the club and generally seems to perform at a decent standard but has been unable to truly establish himself as a first team player. And at the ripe age of 25 there's still time for him to break in to the squad whilst remaining as a utility player for us. Plus being 25 means he's basically a kid in our aged squad, i'd much rather have Muniesa than bring in Terry on exorbitant wages.

£2M+ and off he goes I hope! A very ordinary player in my opinion!

£2M+ and off he goes I hope! A very ordinary player in my opinion! He is only 25, and a better option than some of the other, older defenders we currently have. Assuming we don't sign any other defenders that can walk into the starting team we would be silly to let him go for £2M or anything close to that. Who would you have as 1st team defense without him?

If he's sold, how many prem 'quality' defenders do we have? Bards, Johnson, Ryan and Pieters. Any more?

I expect if there is a fee it will be a very small nominal fee. The club signed Muniesa with the hope he'd be a star, he isn't and never will be for us. we should now let him go so he can have a career playing first team football with us wishing him all the best. This does fall in line with the message Hughes said about considering players careers this summer.
I just hope we don't subsidise his wages if he leaves.

Decent footballer, lapses in positional sense, light weight and injury prone. Nice lad, wish him all the best - but we would benefit from someone a little more robust and disciplined.

Dont get me wrong I love me some Geoff, but he is more effective in the defensive midfield role. But if Muniesa and Bruno both (our only defenders on the current roster under 30 except ShawX who is almost there) leave this summer, then that lot will look like swiss cheese against any half decent side.

I would rather play bards or Pieters at left back and a lot of options in the middle with some of our younger players, at least Sweeney, Wolly and Cameron before Muni. Hopefully we get rid because we have better options lined up as well. I don't rate Muni as highly as a lot of members of this board as I've always regarded him as an ordinary player. Sorry, but that is my honest opinion! In addition to this he is also very injury prone so I really support the decision to let him go!

Pieters does get a lot of gripe, but I think I like him better than Muni as well. I don't think Muni is deserving of a regular starting spot. It may be unfair to him to keep him captive on the bench, but I do like him as a plug in in case of emergency.

Should have had an extended run in the team as CDM instead of Whelan or Geoff, the small time he played there he looked more than capable. Gouranga.

There's not been many players receive so much goodwill as Muni.
Sadly it just hasn't really worked out. It really is sad too, especially losing a younger member of the squad if he leaves. I think he'll always remain a cult figure at Stoke for one reason or another.
I also can't help but feel it will signal the start of a break up of our Spanish/Catalan contingent.
