It's a sign that says Hughes knows his job is on the line. When your up against it you do the things you think you do well, not try something fairly new. Ramadan hasn't deserved to be dropped but Hughes has gone back to something he knows. You don't gamble silly when the chips are low.

Arnie needs benching for Ramadan.

Seeing muniesa playing left wing when he brought arnie has tipped me into the Hughes out camp. What kind of message does that send to Ramadan? He will be gone this summer to a manager that wants to play this talented youngster. Hughes really doesn't like youngster. Next we swap 25 yr indi for 36 years John Terry. Loves the oldies does Hughes

And now Munisa is playing as LW instead of Ramadan. Mr Hughes should announce what is the problem if he is punishing the guy, why does he add him on the bench while other players are out the 18 ? Can't quite understand why Pieters came on for Arnie instead of Ramadan Now that we are mathematically safe I really hope that he gives him plenty of time in these last 2 games

I'm hoping it's some sort of plot to make sure no one comes in for him this summer.
I genuinely thought he'd turn our season around, and he's disappeared - I'd love to know what's gone on behind the scenes

Coates must be fuming. He cited Ramadan as someone who stood out in the away debacle at Spurs. Add to that no youth on the bench and he must be inwardly seething.

He was playing well but he wasn't playing that well. And if it was a big club then we fleece them for 20m and reinvest. It's win-win surely?

Could it be that Hughes really rates him. Rates him so much that he feels the need to protect him, and introduce him gradually. Let him develop.
I don't know.

Loves the oldies does Hughes To play the devil's advocate, it could be argued that Sohbi is a long-term investment and a hedge against Arni leaving in the Summer. There's clearly no room in the team for both players at the same time because Arni is lot less effective on the right. We haven't seen anything of Ramadan on the right so there's no way of knowing. I suspect Hughes is reluctant to drop Arni for fear of driving him into the arms of another team over the Summer.

I'm not saying it again - I don't know the answer. Could Hughes regret introducing Bojan the way that he did. Does he feel that he should have taking more time with him? I can honestly say that I thought Bojan was the best player I had seen in a Stoke shirt since the days of Hudson & Co. I also had a feeling that something would happen to him. I thought that some clumsy CH would knacker him.

It seems to me that most of us fans really like Sobhi. It also seems that there is a consensus that he isn't quite "the finished product".
We don't know what goes on in training. Maybe next season will be his year, when he is more confident; releases the ball at the right time; is comfortable with PL football .....
None of us know.
I can hear typing now to the effect that the only way he gets that is with games ....

How can Hughes not rate Sobhi?
I cannot believe that for one minute.

It's like when he was originally dropped and I said he was dropped. People said he was being rested for the Burnley (I believe) game and would play in that. He hasn't been since. I get why people don't want to see the obvious but it is the obvious answer.....

I don't understand what's not to rate. When he has played, he's been a creative force, and has combined that with an impressive work rate. He gets back, he tackles, he puts himself about and after all of that will belt back up the pitch with the ball at his feet. Without bashing Shaqiri too much, he's a much harder worker and he actually offers something in both defence and attack. I'd also that he's better at beating his man and controlling the ball.
The only thing that I can think is that Hughes thinks he's too direct for what he wants to do, but that seems absurd in the extreme.

Bayern you are an excellent "on paper" manager. Hindsight being your greatest asset.
