Surely back to 4231
Grant
Bards Indi Ryan Muni
GCam Allen
Sobhi Shaq or Imbula Arni
Berahino
Afellay must surely be pushing hard for a start too. But please no more Whelan, Adam, Walters or Crouch.

Can see Liverpool scoring at least 2,so we had better have our shooting boots on or we are heading for another defeat.

With the men they have out, we may be able to force a bore draw, as we nearly did against Chelsea.

No Henderson, Lallana or Mané. Their goalie's not up to much and their defence is average. We have to give it a go.

If we win though, is it just papering over the cracks that have unravelled this season? Many on here, including me, have just given up on Hughes, so would a victory change that viewpoint?

Win on Saturday is becoming crucial. Let's judge Hughes on rest of season. We have regressed and if he cannot turn things around we cannot trust him to buy what is needed to improve us next season and he should go. Never thought I would see W Brom finish above us, though I wouldn't want Pulis back, despite what he did in keeping us in Prem. That was boring stuff though.

Agree with that - unfortunately, we may need a miracle on Saturday.

It's anyone's guess on what team he will put out..though I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Walters back.
Probably names out of a hat at 1.45pm.

Ironically I think Liverpool are one side that hoofing it long cuts out their tricky midfield and bombarding their CB's with high balls pays dividends.

Grant...A shining light in a sea of shite Bardsley.. Solid Erik.... Only because there's no one else BMI..respect fella. Can't see him signing Ryan...Just try and get a header on target Geoff...Stay in front of the back Affelay..Move it quicker. Arnie...new shooting boots Sobhi...drive in the box and shoot Diouf..be Mame...a real handful Berahino... Keep making runs. Affelay has one responsibility. Slide the ball down the sides and quickly.

After his efforts last night Muni should replace Erik Otherwise pretty much what I'd go for but you already know it'll be Crouch up top, Whelan & Charlie in the cage Its become very 2012-2013 hasn't it?

The issue with Xherdan Shaqiri is that he's got bulging lallies.
I didn't get where I am today by having bulging lallies!

I'd have Afellay in there ahead of Shaq, with orders to retain possession and slide balls in down the side of the centre backs for Saido, with Arnie and Ramadan given full licence to cut in and support. Allen must snap at heels and win the ball for the front 4 and Geoff sit in and tidy up. Ryan must be under orders to give 10 yard passes to the midfield and not punt balls up to Saido's head. Shaq can have the last 30 minutes if his fragile calves can take it!

Dust ourselves down, onto the next one...
Assuming (and it's a fucking big assumption) that Shaq's fit...
......................Grant..........................
Bards.......Shawcross....BMI...........Pieters
............Cameron.......Allen................
Shaq...............Sobhi.................Arnie...
...................Berahino.....................
I'd go back to a 4 man defence against a fluid attack like Liverpool's. Also, I'd look to have our 3 interchanging a bit behind Berahino- try to keep the ball down as much as possible and get it into feet.

I'd play Shaq as the number 10 though.
And if Shaq's not fit/can't be arsed, then I'd play Berahino as the number 10 with Diouf in front of him.

Change them around as the match progresses. Keep everyone on their toes. Diouf to cover Saido from the bench, Affelay to cover the AM position, Whelan for CM.... It looks balanced on paper, but the key to anything succeeding will be how we feed the striker. Even after the last two games I'm hopeful we'll get a result and calm everyone down a bit!
