I can never get my head around anyone not being arsed about England playing let alone vs the Germans. 100% guarantee if we did do anything in a tournament everyone would jump on it saying they've always loved England. Bollocks WE STILL BELIEVE International breaks are a bore.....especially if it's just for a friendly!!! Plus we continually work ourselves up at the start of a tournament only to be totally left deflated by the complete lack of effort from England's so called top players playing in the so called top league in the WORLD!!! I'm interested in Stoke....I'm not that interested in England much these days... they mattered more when I was a kid!!! I'd love to see them achieve something special don't get me wrong, but even if they did, I'd probably have forgotten it by the following week..... Now if Stoke achieved something special, that would live with me forever....like this premiership journey, and the FA CUP semi final.....the final was an achievement, but not worth thinking about too much!!!

It will be an interesting watch if only to see how an experimental German team with unfamiliar faces fare against the usual depressing suspects in an England shirt with a 34 yr old striker who last played for England 4 yrs ago. While the Germans seem to have an endless conveyor belt of young talent England have little beyond the team that features tonight. As for the country and media declaring us potential world cup winners if we beat them, that reaction disappeared a few years ago. Pretty much everyone recognises our poor current status. Still we have the best league in the world...so the Premier League tell us.

Bollocks WE STILL BELIEVE I couldn't give two shits. I hate international breaks, I hate know-nothing twats who suddenly get interested in football when England play, I hate most of the team, I hate EUFA, I hate FIFA and I hate friendlies. You've clearly never followed England away then? Never been in a shit ground in a country that hates you, in a city that doesn't want you there with 3000+ England fans who've all got respect for stoke and will shake your hand when you mention you're stoke. There is not a better feeling in the world.

I don't think many of the players are that fussed.
Ten players who were not in this squad were invited to St George's Park on Monday including Captain Fantastic Rooney. Southgate wanted to make them feel part of the set up and deliver his vision for the future.
Only one bothered to turn up - a certain Jack Butland.

Couldn't give a damn about 'em.
I don't care if we win, lose or draw and certainly will not be watching or listening.
Dog shit.

Looks like Southgte is trying to mimic Chelsea's formation.
Not quite sure Dier and Livermore pass as Kante and Matic - but at least it's a bit different.
Has Livermore had a good season? He's got good energy and is a decent player, but I never thought we'd see him adding to his one cap.
Shows the shortage of options.

Livermere, Charlton Palmer, Geoff Thomas get England caps. Makes me weep.

We may win? Are you bonkers? Has all the sauerkraut and wheat beer rotted your common sense? I have been permanently scarred since that 1-5 when I was watching the game in London.....expecting a close game and probable win by us. It was a fun week afterwards To be fair as I have got older, I've viewed friendlies as an opportunity to develop the team come what may, compared to when I was younger and every game mattered. It is the same as in Germany, we want to win friendlies, but if we don't there is not the gnashing of teeth (less the Bild but that is trash) as we know it is not the end. The expectation rises when it comes to the business end of competition.... then it is win or else I was at that germany 5-1 came and england could have scored 10. A year later germany were in the cup final and we were shit in the finals. Last time we played germany it was played competitively as always and we could have scored 8 but only won 3-2. Still, in the tournament that follwed we threw away our game plan and looked totally directionless. Tournament football requires tactics and a game plan and whilst on any given day England's players are as good as the germans they will always be light years ahead of us in tournaments, until the governance and structures in the english game are completely changed

We turn up wondering if we should be looking for a new formation because everyone else is using a different one to us instead of playing to strengths. But then what's the point when we just pick tournament squads on what team they play for or if they are media friendly

Criminal our skipper isn't there over any of those three on current form, but hey ho, its been done to death! Off form I'd have (probably) Keane and (definitely) Smalling over Ryan. Cahill has experience, although i think he's a bit wank. Just thank the gods it's not John Stones.
