Even something like that does make a big difference... You're making a great point here FM. Never really noticed the Barnsley one before and never noticed how nice the Derby one looked. Yeah - the Derby one looks really good. Can't imagine it'd cost that much to replicate. No idea why we've just left ours like it is, even though we're rolling in cash and having made such phenomenal progress on and off the pitch

The other example is Middlesbrough, which in my opinion looks bloody awful, a bit similar to the other corner at Pride Park!

Also the area around the ground looks like it was planned by their council. The businesses create a thriving area during the work day whereas we are surrounded by deserted car franchises.

A far better idea in my opinion would be to utilise the NW corner as a safe standing area once the inevitable happens and it gets approved for use in the next few seasons. It could act as a boothen overspill for those who really want to stand and would enhance the existing atmosphere due to being right next to it. ....we could even call it the boothen paddock All this shit about moving the tunnel is a fuss over nowt

We have a massive 10 metre TV and control room/media centre being built over there. Not particularly exciting, but it's work that would suggest no immediate plans are afoot to expand any further.

Something else to moan about,on non match days the stadium is used for business meerting, training forums .One of the best things that club do on non match days is the work in the community with young adults who for one reason one another have not toed the line, this work is for the benefit of Stoke on Trent.

Yes, that's the plan (according to the official website in November, below). The other problem with the NW corner (at least according to the architects reports and PDFs that appeared online a while ago) is we've got a fair amount of activity taking place in that area on a match day, both inside and outside the stadium. It's filled with TV vans, vehicles, broadcast dishes, ambulances, first aid, access gate etc. If the club did fill it in they'd no doubt have to set that space further back which would take up a chunk of the north stand car park (unless they expand that too, although they're running out of room with it sloping down towards the railway line) It'd be nice to box it all in but I'd be surprised if anything else happened beyond the work we've got planned on the NW, NE and SE corners this summer.

We should be making hay while the sun is shining. I've said it before, it's ridiculous that we still have a ground that on its day is almost impossible to play football in due to the swirling wind and rain created by the empty corners. It's taken way too long to sort the scoreboard corner. At the very least, they should have put windbreaks up to protect the others. It would create a better environment for the fans, who have to suffer the elements throughout winter. I suppose those in the Ivory towers aren't arsed about that though, from the comfort of their executive boxes. The finances are there. There's no excuse. And yet you still get fans falling over themselves to praise the club for how they treat us. I remember their lack of response when the concourse turned into ice rinks. They just seem reluctant to spend money on things that benefit the fans and the matchday experience. Man United fans hate how unwelcoming our ground is ... for that reason alone I say keep it how it is and let the cold winds blow! That's just once a season for them as opposed to every other week for us home fans

Not particularly exciting, but it's work that would suggest no immediate plans are afoot to expand any further. That was cancelled and they converted some boxes didn't they? Reports have been a bit confusing around the plans for the media centre. There was this article in the Sentinel back in October which mentions a media centre being scrapped, but for some reason it says it was planned for the North East corner rather than the NW one - www.stokesentinel.co.uk/stoke-city-club-presses-ahead-with-ground-re-development-as-planned/story-29794642-detail/story.htmlA more recent article on the official website (November) says a media centre is still happening in the North West corner - www.stokecityfc.com/news/article/2016-17/bet365-stadium-development-south-east-corner-3411650.aspxAt a guess I'd say the Sentinel article is referencing separate media centre plans we had several years ago rather than the current plans. I vaguely remember we converted some executive boxes around about 2011 which also saw the upper tier toilets made smaller in block 8.

They converted those boxes before the expansion plans were initially submitted in 2013. The boxes were used because we very infrequently sell them all, hence the reason why they won't be building any more - the demand, it would seem, simply isn't there. I don't buy that at all (the demand). Especially with some stories I've been told!

You are correct, the club turned the last two sky boxes into a TV suite ,they hopefully will build a new centre, but they would need to reallocate all the TV trucks and cables. They are looking into a false floor about 3 meters up and build on top of that which would allow for emergency vechicals acces.

I think I'm getting media centre and media control centre confused. I was thinking it was a nice little room for Redknapp, Henry, and Souness to talk tactics but it's a shed with the on/off switch for the TV screens.

Those wind breaks look awful to me, really naff, an open corner is much better than that lame effort, open corners merge the town and the ground in an architecturally pleasing way. By contrast a big breeze block wall makes the ground look like something out of some god forsaken hell hole in the old Soviet empire.
